Any get the memory maker without magic bands?

Everything I read talks about MM with magic bands. But we are staying offsite and would (I believe) have to buy magic bands at WDW. There is no option for ordering them in advance?

Does anyone do MM without the bands? How does that work? I really don't see much point in getting to parks, buying the bands, and having a CM set them up. I feel like I am missing something here.

I don't know about how it works if you buy MAgic bands, but it states on the website that any pictures taken within a 3 day window(before and after) the MM package is bought will not appear in MM. The MM should be bought at least 3 days in advance.

I would be purchasing MM well in advance of our trip to get the discount anyway, so the 3-day window would not be an issue.

My question is more a matter of how well the MM works without magic bands (and whether it makes sense to go through the hassle of buying magic bands when we get to the parks). I am on the fence about the cost of MM anyway, particularly without the convenience of the magic bands in general.

I *think* the only difference in the way MM would work is that you would need them to actually scan the MM card in order to get the ride photos whereas with the magic bands the photos would be automatically linked to the account.

So, if you are planning to split up to do rides (or have kids that aren't going to stay with you the entire time), you may want to get them magic bands so that you don't have to go through the hassle of going back to the ride (I think you have up to 24 hours) to add the photos to the account. Other than that, without the magic band you have the hassle of stopping at the photo counter after each ride (that has photos) to have them added. There usually isn't a big line, but it can take a few minutes. If you don't mind the inconvenience of stopping to add the photo, then you really don't need the magic bands.

Other than the rides, the PP photographer will just scan a regular PP card or your MM card to add photos to the account instead of scanning the band- no extra steps required for normal pictures.
