Any food reviews for AKL concierge???

We are going in Oct. and have found times when food offerings will be available, but no actual info on the food??? Also, wondering if water bottles or soda available? Any info appreciated!

Hi, we are going to AKL concierge in Aug. I received in the mail an information package about the lodge and concierge here is what they have to offer,

6:30 am coffee and assorted juices

7:00 am - 10:30 am fresh fruits, juices, pasteries and cereals

11:30-3:00 pm African snacks and beverages, does not say what the snacks are.

3:00pm-4:30pm imported loose leaf teas, assorted freshly baked scones, cookies and biscuits.

5:00pm-7:00pm wines, hors d'oeuvers, appetizers from the resort restaurants, Jiko and Boma

8:00pm -10:00pm desserts and a variety of premium cordials.

Have a wonderful stay we are really looking forward to it. Also concierge guests can go on the sunrise safari. That books up real fast so if you want to go on it book it 90 days out. We have ours already booked and are really excited about it.

When will you be there? We will Aug 11th to the 15th

In the morning you can expect plenty of cold and hot cereals, fruit, bagels, pastries. Lunch time is mostly nibbles; pretzels, cinnamon chips, spicy mixed nuts and crackers. Late afternoon you can find a couple different appetizers with an African flair, like chicken on a stick. In the evening is desserts and liquors.

I've stayed there twice.

If you like oatmeal, the oatmeal in the AM is the real stuff, not instant

The evening has some excellent appetizers and great desserts. Just be careful, some (but not all) of the appetizers are a little spicey.

Thanks for your responses! Mrs.A we are going Oct 1-5.Did you make a room request? I can't wait to read your trip report! I hope you have a great time!! Also, when or if, did you request the safari? Did you call at 90 days out? Or did you contact them right away and request the safari????I have so many questions, any advise would be very appreciated!!! thanks!

Jacksmom, you'll find plenty to fill yourselves up. Sodas and bottled water aren't placed out where you can see them, but just ask an attendant and they'll be happy to bring you what you want.

Ducklite, I had to laugh at your oatmeal comment. After we stayed concierge in December, my 16-year-old DD set out on a quest to recreate the oatmeal w/brown sugar and cinnamon she had there. We just haven't been able to quite pull it off.

First, she has to get the real deal--the Quaker stuff in the can and cook it on teh stove top with whole milk.

Also mix in brown sugar, cinnmon, and add a little honey or maple syrup.

It'll be close.

I received the information package thru the mail shortly after I booked concierge. There is a paper to fill out what you want to do where to eat etc. I sent that in with the request of the safari on it. I did call exactly 90 days out and the nice CM said they already had it booked, and the priorty seating we requested.

I do believe that the savannah rooms in concierge are all non-smoking that is what I requested. non smoking is garunteed. The smoking rooms are pool view. I did request the bunk beds for DD7and DS 9. The safari is a surprise for them, they are going to love it.

Do you already have AKL reserved? If so call concierge and request the safari, maybe they will book it. I think I booked mine 2 weeks before the 90 day mark.

We will be at the AKL concierge June 15 - 18 (and then on to the BWI) and I'll post when we get back. Our family is really looking forward to the trip!!
