Any Florida Career Firefighters?

I'm on the job up here in NY and have some questions about the transfer process that I was hoping maybe someone could help me with.

Hey Brother!

I'm a 9 year Lt in a mid-sized NE Florida Department.

AKAIK, there is not any real "transferring" into Florida for Firefighters. All firefighters in Florida are required to have a State of Florida certification. It's referred to as a "Certificate of Compliance" or a "minimum Standards certificate".

I do not know for sure, but I'm not sure that the State allows "Out of Staters" to challenge the test without completing the State's curriculum.

A great point of contact will be the Florida State Fire College based in Ocala. They will be able to give you the straight scoop on requirements.

Another possibility is the Florida Bureau of Professional Regulation, but they will probably refer you to the FSFC.
