I Saw some U.S. Airways fares that were really low, but I'm not too comfortable about booking a flight away from the airlines . Has anyone booked a flight with Travelocity?
thanks, good luck all,
joe

We've booked air travel thru Travelocity many times over the years. Never had a problem.

I'm surprised that you wound't be able to find the same price for flights directly on the US Airways website. Are you sure you are comparing the same flights/dates?

Try calling the airline and see if they'll price match. Make sure you have all the flight numbers Travelocity is offering.

I've tried booking with travelocity or orbitz when they had a lower price than the airline's website. Both times when I got to the final transaction, I got an error saying the fare was not available.

I've heard others say the same thing.

Always book directly with the airline. Makes is easier to sort out problems with your reservation if they arise. Otherwise you'll just have the airline and the third party booking site pointing fingers at each other saying the other is to blame.

I have booked many times with Travelocity and never had a problem with the flights or availability when trying to complete the transaction. Even when I am booking on the US site and not the Canadian site, and I have used both.

Good luck!

Like a PP said I have heard others say it and had it happen to me as well. It will come up with a message that says something like the fare you choose is no longer available and here is the new one. They "say" what happens is since you started the booking process the original fare "sold out." Funny how I have had it happen on Travelocity and Expedia but never once had it happen on an airlines website. Kinda of a bait and switch maybe? Though at least they tell you the original fare is "gone" before you purchase it. I have also heard of cases that when you book through the third parties site you are not officially confirmed at that fare right away and have to wait to get the confirmation e-mail. Then by the time they got the e-mail guess what? The original fare was gone and they had to pay more. The consumer website Elliot.org has stories about using 3rd party agencies such as Travelocity and Expedia as well as the airlines sites too.

I wouldn't book a USAir flight through USAir, either, I'd book it through AA's site. The price should be the same, but Saber (AA) is the master database.

We book through Travelocity often, they are the booking engine for our rewards miles. Never had a problem, a few times there has been issues with flight times changing, losing seats, etc. Each time I have called the airline to fix the problem without issue.
