This is my 2nd week on WW & so far, so good. My hubby & I are going on an unexpected mini-trip for the next couple of days & he wants to try the Cheesecake Factory where we're going. I was looking at the menu & saw some salads/sandwiches that didn't look too bad. Can anyone help me with pt values, or something they have successfully eaten here on WW?

Welcome to WISH and WW's.

I love the Cheesecake factory.

My favorite is to have the Thai Lettuce Wraps as an entree.

Unfortunately Cheesecake factory does not give nutritional info, so it's hard to figure out. I just look at my plate and guestimate to the best of my knowledge. Here is what I counted a half portion as the last time I was there. Sometimes 1/2 is more than enough. I usually split this with my mom, and sometimes we split two things depending on how hungry, what meal etc.

Create Your Own Thai Lettuce Rolls! Satay Chicken Strips, Carrots, Bean Sprouts, Coconut Curry Noodles and Lettuce Leaves with Three Delicious Spicy Thai Sauces — Peanut, Sweet Red Chili and Tamarind-Cashew

1/2 portion- (double amounts for full portion)
*Chicken 2oz- 2 pts
*Peanuts- .5 pts (small amount on chicken)
s*auce - 2points (there are dipping sauces). Sweet red chili is probably the least amount of points.
*noodles-I didn't use the noodles this last time, but they are thin and tiny and they probably don't bring you more than 1/2 cup.(remember 1 cup of pasta is 4 points. If you use any of them, count accordingly based on how much you use).

I also split the Shrimp Pad Thai last time I was there.
1/2 portion
shrimp .5 points
tofu- .5 points
Egg - 1 point
Sauce 2 points
Pad Thai Noodles 6 points
Peanuts .5

Remember that eating out is a good time to use some of your Flex Points.

Go to the website, they have a picture of the Thai Lettuce Wrap on the menu.

Just go through each item and break out what is in it. You can ask for sauces and dressings on the side. If you need help guestimating points on a dish, just let me know.

Have fun.

Ask if they have nutritional info. There is a "formula" to calculate points. Calories + Fat Grams - Fiber = Points

50 12 4

You can only count 4 fiber even if it is more. I have used this this week at Subway and Blimpie with the new low carb stuff.

I did the ham & swiss low carb at Blimpie and it was about 8 points for the sandwich.

I would choose a salad and do the dressing on the side. Have a few bites of DH's cheesecake! Or a grilled chicken sandwich. If you like seafood, anything un-fried/broiled is really low points.

Good Luck!

OOPS! The typing for the formula didn't come out lined up. You divide the calories by 50, the fat by 12, and the fiber by 4!

Also, just be really good the rest of the day! I have found that a little indulgence goes a long way!

actually, isn't it divide fat by 12, fiber by 4, and then the whole thing by 50? so it's like

( calories + fat/12 - fiber/4 )/50

i'm sure it works out close enough either way, but i think the whole thing divided by 50 is the official way. please someone correct me if i'm wrong! i just started on saturday!

I think it comes out right mom2's way:

(calories/50 + fat/12 - fiber/4 )

I actually worked it out and put it on an Excel spreadsheet last year... my inner geek loves spreadsheets.

50 calories is 1 point

12 g fat is 1 point

4 g fiber is -1 point

ok, cool, i must have read that wrong info somewhere! thank you for the correction. that makes it easier to remember and figure out on a normal calculator anyway. i'm an online member, so if i'm in a grocery store or something, i don't have a slide thingy (i hear people talk about these, i guess they get them at meetings) and i don't have the ww calculator. i can just use a normal calculator as long as i remember the formula. thanks!

Marcia- it's really easy to calculate the points in your head even without a calculator (even for the math-impaired like me!):earsgirl:

Except for those stupid, nasty labels that have odd serving sizes... Like one bag contains 2 3/16s servings. Serving size is 1 3/5 cups. (shaking head and mumbling ugly words...)

yeah, i totally hear you about the crazy size portions! and you are right about calculating in my head...i found myself doing it this morning. i know my mom is making homemade chicken soup (yummy, and nice and good to warm us up from this cold we're getting up in the northeast!). and she makes those flaky biscuits out of the container, don't remember which brand. so i was thinking, hmm, will i be able to have one? did a quick calculation in my head and figured out, oh yes i will! and they're so nice and buttery already that there's no way i'm adding any more butter! works out nice :) (sorry for going so off topic!)
