We are planning Marrekesh for the ambiance as suggested by the Ressie person....our DD12 is a picky eater at best and I have shown her the menu and she is not sure. I wondered if she can pick from my plate or is that faux pas? Any comments on our other choices would be GREATLY recieved and appreciated!!!! Crystal Palace ( our kick off day)
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Hollywood & Vine(w the Fantasmic Pkg)
Garden Grill
Planet Hollywood
Marrekesh
Le Cellier
still between Kona or Ohana
Chef Mickeys for Breakfast on our last day

Any imput??? Thanks and WOW are we excited on our first time!!!!!!!!!

We ate in Morocco last Dec. It was very different, in a good way. Our DD was 6 and she got the chicken and FF. It was pretty much the same as every where else. So we had no problems there. :) Le cellier, Chef Mickey's are great choices. We used to love Ohana but after the menu changes we found it not as good and definately not worth the money. So we go to the Kona Cafe and really enjoy that. Just our 2 cents. :thumbsup2

Hoping someone else will see this and reply. Thanks Buzzgirls&dad but my DD is 12 and can't do the childrens meal( besides when you are 12 you do NOT want to be able to eat off the kids menu!!!LOL)

I haven't eaten in Morocco before however, I'm used to eating similar foods daily along with Indo/Pak food. Arabic food is very good and extremely mild on the spices (good for picky eaters :) ).

I felt the same way your DD does when I was 12...and I still do! If she's not getting kid food (which she could, they don't care), have her get the Lemon Chicken. It is just regular old chicken. There are some olives under it...but nobody's going to make her (or me!) EAT them. It comes with a side of white rice. Rice is rice.

There is also an appetizer called Beef Brewat Roll, which is plain hamburger meat, rolled up in a fried pastry shell, and some cinnamon and powdered sugar. It sounds gross, but is really good.

:teeth:

We just returned yesterday. We ate at Marrakesh Monday evening. It was our favorite dinner. We have two boys, one turns 15 tomorrow, and one is 12, the same age as your daughter. Of the two, he is pickier, but he liked his meal, the chicken couscous. The chicken is two medium-sized breasts, mildly seasoned, on top of a huge pile of couscous mixed with vegetables, such as carrots and zucchini. The veggies are large slices, so they are easily avoided, if your daughter doesn't like them. Couscous is just a pasta/rice type food. Perhaps, if you have time, you could get a box at the store and prepare it at home to see if she likes it. They also have chicken shish ke bob with rice...older son had the beef ke bobs and really liked it. I had the lemon chicken and LOVED it.

Really, the seasonings are mild. I think she'll be fine. The ambience is great and the music and belly dancer are entertaining. Belly dancer is not too exotic. It is a nice, different experience. I was glad we went. We can eat Mexican, Italian, Japanese steakhouses, Chinese, etc... anytime. We don't have many Morrocan type restaurants around.

I wanted to let you know that the lemon chicken is half a chicken with a sauce of what I assume is Morrocan seasonings and lemon all over it...plus the olives. It is, as I mentioned before, very good, in my opinion. But I disagree with a previous poster that it is just chicken. I suppose if one scrapes the sauce off.... The rice is also mildly seasoned with some veggies in it, such as peas.

If you go to Marrakesh, I'd suggest letting the kid eat off the adult plate. Get the feast and share it with your kid. Who cares what others think of it? You're on vacation, trying to have a good meal and trying to do that for your kids as well and also trying to get them to sample new experiences and new things. There's really not much spice to the lemon chicken, so it's not going to yuck them out anyway. However, be sure to cut way into it and thoroughly check it for doneness.
I am the type that likes to let kids sample the real food at the restaurant. If that can be had on the kids menu great. But if the kids menu consists of hamburgers and hotdogs no. Well to make a long story short, because he's required to get a kids meal and he didn't want to eat off my plate, I decided to let mine have the burger and fries. Mind you this kid never leaves any burger, and any fry on his plate. He left nearly all of them here. I even scolded him. Then I made the mistake of OK, I'M GOING TO TASTE THIS AND IF IT'S NOT INCREDIBLY BAD YOUNG MAN, YOU'RE IN TROULBE!!!! (cough cough gag BLECH!!!) Er, yeah son. I'll cut up my chicken here just to make sure this one is done and let you have it. Here's some lamb too. Those of you that read my review know I didn't have much luck biting into things that night.

THANK YOU!!! These chunks of advice I love and will take with me!!!!

We went last Sept with my two kids 7 &4; while they ate off the kids menu, and enjoyed it, I found the spices on the adult food to be very mild. I had the beef kebobs and they were very good- just regular pieces of filet, very tender, mildly seasoned. If she likes steak, she can easily have a piece of this off of your plate, or for herself. It comes on 2-3 kebobs with tomatoes, onions and peppers, and she obviously doesn't have to eat the veggies. It came with a rice with a few small pieces of veggies mixed in (like peas and carrots).

I think this poster and I had two different dishes! Could be they've changed it. I had it in January.

This was not my experience with the Lemon Chicken, I assure you. If there had been seasoned sauce all over it, I'd have said so. I don't even eat french fries with seasoning in restaurants. Very plain food for me, thank you.

And my rice was plain, white rice. No seasoning, no veggies.

BTW, the olives are whole olives, under the chicken. Very easy to avoid. :)

Maybe we are talking two different dishes. I thought I had ordered the lemon chicken. Mine had a sauce on it, and the rice was not plain. Oh well...we could be mixed up.

But, we both liked what we had, and that's what's important. :)

I wonder if I can get the Lemon chicken without the olives? I despise the little green buggers but the chicken sounds great.

Another resturant for the list!!

My daughter, 12, always orders off the kids menu. She is very picky and very tiny. She would never finish a full adult meal, even if she did find something she liked.

I'm sure could get it oliveless. They aren't little green guys, they're big black guys. At least they were when I had it. :)

We just ate there last week. My DDs (13 and 15) both ate the chicken shish-kebobs with spiced rice. They liked it. DH and DS (16) ate the beef kebobs and liked that as well. I had the chicken couscos and thought it was good.

The chicken kebob dinner comes with 2 kebobs. I knew DDs would not eat all of their meal, so I asked if they could share a dinner. The waiter said the restaurant frowns upon that. I might have just ordered one meal for them anyway, but DH does not like to create a scene. So we ordered them each a meal, and we brought the leftovers back to the hotel refrigerator. They ate it the next day.

The belly dancer was fun entertainment. But, I would have liked her to dance longer and involve more of the audience with her. Try to get a table near the dance floor if you can.
