First trip to WDW. Can someone please tell me if there are convenient fast food places such as MacDonald, Burger King, Taco Bell etc. (or other reasonablly priced restaurants) around WDW as my family does not plan to eat all meals at WDW restaurants to help with the budget. I will have a car so traveling few miles would not be a problem.

Any other tips on saving money on food would be appreciated (will be using some vouchers at WDW).

Thanks for all the useful info.

Right outside of the gate near Downtown Disney is the Crossroads shopping center. There is a McDonalds and Taco Bell in there. Just down the road from that is Wendy's, Chik Filet and some other fast food places. It's Apopka-Vineland Rd or SR 535 (I beleive that is right)

Hello: There is a McDonald's right beside Blizzard beach and the All-Star resorts enterance. I think it is on beuna vista drive.

There are 2 close Pizza Huts too. One is outside the Downtown entrance and the other one is outside the entrance closest to AK, you simply turn right on the highway when leaving WDW property.

pooh girl 71 - you are right about the roads - it is route 535. There is also a McDonalds in DTD.

If you are staying toward the Animal Kingdom side of WDW, Route 192 isn't too far. This road goes east to Kissimmee and has many tourist attractions, shops and restaurants along the way. If you take this road west, there is a Golden Corral and a Bob Evans restaurant. This isn't fast food, but it is cheaper than most Disney restaurants and may provide a break from eating too many hamburgers.

is a Steak N Shake, Olive Garden, Red Lobster. I believe there are also Kentucky Fried Chicken, Popeye's Chicken, and Checkers on International Blvd (or whatever that road is that leads you to Universal Studios). There is also a Sonic Burger place by Beltz outlet mall. Orlando has probably several of every major fast food/homestyle food chains around, as well as a ton of shopping outlets.

I hope you're only talking about going there before and after your park-hopping. If you're thinking about driving off property in the middle of your day at the park, you should consider...

Getting in and out of the parks is NOT an easy thing to do, especially at MK. At MK, you will have to walk to the front, ride the monorail or ferry to the parking lot (likely after waiting for it), ride the tram to your car (likely after waiting for it), and THEN drive off property. You will have no less than 1 hour travel time; that is a severe underestimate during busy times. For a 10-hour day at the parks, you're spending more than $5 an hour just to be there. That's $20 and hour for a family of four. I would expect to be away from the park for a MINIMUM of 2 hours for lunch. It might not be worth it.

Now, if you're going in at opening and staying 'til close and you NEED some time away from the parks, go for it. I would not go through all that just to save a few bucks, though.
