Was considering getting my son's first haircut at WDW next year. Anyone been there ? Do they do anything special for a first haircut ? :goodvibes

Yes, we've been, we took DD in March and had a great experience with Penny!

They do seem to do something special for first haircuts, there was a little boy in there getting his done, I think they get a certificate or something of the like.

We had a great experience. Penny was awesome, she's worked for Disney for 29 years, she used to be the lead under MK in the hair salon there. I can't say enough great things about her.

It's a lot of fun, get there first thing, there's always a line.

Hope that helps!

Took ds for his first hair cut there and they did a great job entertaining him with stickers and a toy while he got his hair cut. At the end they sprinkled "pixie dust" (Mickey confetti) on him, wrapped his hair clippings up in some tissue and sealed it with a sticker, and gave him a special "first haircut" certificate. The woman who cut his hair was Maura. I highly recommend her!

ETA: They also gave him a mickey ears hat that had "first haircut" stitched on the back. Sometimes they run out so it's best to do the haircut early in the day if you want the hat!

We did DS's first haircut in 2 months ago. I want to say our stylist's name was Penny too - she had very light blonde hair if that helps. Anyways, she was terrific with DS. We knew he would be very tentative. He was 8.5 mos old at the time. He was not real good with strangers so we wondered how this was going to go. She was a real pro. Just started sticking him with Mickey Mouse stickers on his shirt and shoes. It really distracted him and made him interested and more comfortable (it helped that we have Mickey Mouse at home and he knew who MM was). We got the pixie dust as PP has mentioned. We also got the clippings of his hair wrapped up with a Mickey Mouse sticker to boot. Got the certificate and mouse ears. We went first thing on a MOnday to the park. Had zero wait. It was about 15 minutes after the park opened. There was one little girl who just had her hair done by the other stylist there they were just leaving when we got there. The entire time we were there there was not a soul who got a haircut...it was very empty, and this was in April. The stylist told us that if we went the day b4 (as we planned) the line was out the door. Do not go on the weekend would be my guess. Good luck and it was truly fantastic! DS wore his ears in the park and had tons of comments about the "first haircut". It was so cute and it's such a wonderful memory for me!

EVERYTHING about your post indicates you are my sister. The haircut question, your prior posts (I searched it) and where you stayed each year. Is this you, Lora??

I found a picture of Penny w/ my DD from March...

We had my dd first hair cut at the Disney Barber Shop last October when she was 19 months old. She was scared to sit in the chair and the man (sorry I can't remember his name) did a great job with her! He plastered her with over 40 Mickey stickers and while she was busy taking each one off and putting it on my nose he cut her hair. Her hair was wrapped up in tissue with pixie dust then taped with a Mickey sticker. She also got a Mickey hat with First Hair cut sewn in the back and a certificate. To top it off he sprinkled her and her big sister with pixie dust. It was completely worth it. We went first thing in the morning and only had to wait for one person.

First haircuts generally get the certificate and special mouse ears. My Ds5 and Dd 3 both had their first haircuts there. We make it a point it get our haircut there every trip. I recommend going first thing in the morning because the lines trnd to start getting longer and longer as the day goes on.

What time does it open? and close?
We are going in July and I know we will do EMH to get on the rides- It will be tough to give up rides for a haircut so I am trying to figure out how to get my peewee in for his hair cut

Our DS had his first haircut there in Feb.. He recieved a certificate and also mickey ears that say first haircut on them. They were really good trying to keep him happy, giving him stickers, blowing bubbles.
Here's a after he's done wearing his ears (and still not too impressed).

Do they only do first haircuts? How much is it? Do they do older kids hair, do they do anything special for them?

TIA!

OK answered my own ?
Harmony is open from 9-5
NO APPOINTMENTS! Walk in only
anyone can get a haircut
Price
Adult $17
Kids 12 and under $14
hair gels/glitter$5(although I think that is if you don't get a haircut because when we went we got that included in the $14 price.

I almost forgot, if you have a really little one, the colored hair gel apparently takes awhile to dry so we opted not to get that with our toddler DD because she'd have her hands in it the whole time.

Now I know where everybody was getting the hair gel and glitter!!!! I kept seeing kids with crazy hair when we were there and I had no idea!
