Any experiences with Hoodia?

Have any of you ever tried Hoodia? I recently bought some, but I wanted to see if anybody here has had any luck with it.

FWIW, I totally respect Mary Shomon's opinion. I bought her thyroid book a long time ago and I think she really knows her stuff.

I have not bought Mary Shomon's book, but do get her e-mails. What diet strategy does she advocate for thyroid patients? My memory is it is GI based. I am hypothyroid.

I remember seeing a 60 minutes (or one of those shows) about this. Isn't this plant grown in African? I thought they said it would be a long time before we could get it here in the US. I don't know anything about this pill form, in the show they used the plant and the CBS reporter tried it and said it really did work for her.

It would be great if this pill form did what the plant does, but I would like there to be information out there about it. Once Oprah says it is OK, I am ready to order .

I'm really not sure. I bought her book on hypothyroidism and not the diet book, although I keep thinking about picking it up. I use Weight Watchers, personally.

This is the plant that's grown in Africa and the pill is a concentrated form of the plant. You have to be careful, though, because there are some brands out there that say they have hoodia in them, but really don't. What's not available right now is a synthetic version of the drug, which is what companies are working on now. I hope they come up with something!
