Any Experiences with AKV?

Hi!
I'm very interested and curious about AKV, since we're hoping to stay there in January (at least I'm hoping to stay there--working on dh). I have some questions for those who've stayed there:

Are the savannah view studios close to the pool/restaurants? How's the view? Do you see lots of animals from the balcony? How's the bus transportation?

Thanks so much for your input; I'm trying to convince my dh that we need a January family trip while my dd10 is still in elementary school!!!

they are pretty wonderful!!!

my view was standard - pool and roof - but I think on the other side of the hall was savannah - that say - the big area in the back where they show everyone the animals.

on the 5th floor - right now rooms 5408(mind) to the end of that hall - plus the next hall. are definitely being used by DVC members.
walked all the way to the GV at the end.

so ask on the DVC board - there is a map that descriptives what they are doing. that LisaS put together.

Until the new building opens in 2009, AKV consists of villas on the 5th and 6th floors of the Lodge building ("Jambo House"). The Savanna View studios are distributed around the horseshoe part of the Lodge building. There are a few close to the pool and restaurants but you could also end up in one at the far end of the Kudu trail, as far from the pool as you can get. When you make your reservation, add a request like "close to the pool" and hope for the best. Since requests are just requests, there is no guarantee you will end up anywhere near the pool but it doesn't hurt to ask.

If being close to the pool is more important to you than a savanna view then request a Standard View studio. In Jambo House the Standard View villas face the pool area.

As far as the animal viewing and bus transportation, you will be in the same building and using the same bus stop as the AKL guests so take a look at some of the AKL-related threads for more info.
