Our younger dd is 4 and in full time special ed preschool. I was thinking about consulting with an OT during the summer, to try to unravel the mystery that is dd!! She was dx'd with mild autism, and has gross motor and motor planning issues, and often seems to be an anxious, unhappy little girl. Generally, she's very under-responsive to stimuli. However, something as simple as shouting her name outside sends her into a meltdown.

I called Cigna today, to see if they would cover visits to an OT. Of course it is excluded from coverage---grrr!!! Have any of you had your children in some type of sensory integration therapy? What did you think? PLease share your experiences.

A really good OT can work wonders, escpecially with sensory issues and motor coordination and strength. My DS worked with a great one for a little over a year and the difference it made was amazing. The trick is that they have to "get it" (HFA/Aspergers) or it just does not work.
