Any experience using a Disney Card

In live in St. Louis and unfortunately we no longer have a Disney Store in my area (the closest one is nearly 5 hours away in Branson). I use to buy Disney dollars to cover my extra food purchases and shopping. With me not doing the Disney Dining plan (this makes me financially nervous) can I use those Dining Gift cards (which I can buy online - shipping is FREE) at those carts. I'm talking about the those carts that sell stuff like ice creams, and pop corns, dole whips, snack food like that.

From what I remember, the carts do not take cards. They are cash only. Please correct me if I'm wrong other DISers.

I use them all the time ~ you can purchase Dole Whips & Churros for sure with a Disney GC.

There are different kinds of carts. Dole Whips aren't sold at a cart, they are sold at one place, and yes, you can use the giftcard. Churro carts don't move around, and yes you can use the card. Popcorn carts, too, are the same, I believe.

The thing I have NOT yet been able to use anything but cash (or disney dollars) for are balloon vendors and ice cream carts that are totally mobile.

So i would still carry around some cash or disney dollars, if you anticipate a need for those couple things...


You can also buy the giftcards at just about any gift shop, and disney dollars at the main stores (I found them at Greetings from CA, and I imagine they are available in the big Main Street DL giftshop...just not at the smaller shops around the parks), in case you don't want to buy the giftcards ahead of time (and there's no way to buy disney dollars ahead, as far as I know).

Also know that the ATMs at Disneyland are Chase, so if you have a Chase account you can snag cash if needed, with no fee.
