Some websites were reporting today, but Disney has issued no statements yet. Is anyone in the park to get the low-down? We are hoping it will open this weekend, so we can do a segment on it for the show and blog.
Thanks!

I was hearing this weekend too. But Disney did confirm the month of February, right?

i've called a few times, and they just say no date yet... its still on hold. and it will be this month...

you'd think they'd get their act together and do some advertising for it.

Given the initial response to just the rumors of it last year, I think they'll be more than substantial crowds just on word of mouth alone, lol.

I have no information to share, but just wanted to drop a note here for any CMs who might have information that the return of Captain EO at the moment is considered an internal matter to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts US, Inc. and is covered under the company guidelines concerning propietary/confidential information. Be careful what you say and how you say it...

Shoot, that probably means it'll be open, or have just opened when I'm there (Feb 24-28). Maybe they'll decide to open March 1. ;)

I stopped by today after work, just hoping to take some pictures and check out the crowds, but EO was not open. Today (Feb 10) was a date that was kicked around a lot as the opening, but it was not to be, I guess. :confused3 Perhaps this weekend?

I am not sure if I want it to open or not before I go in a few days! Will it make the crowds bigger? BUT it might also make less lines on other rides...oh the toss up! :confused3

I feel exactly the same way. If it does open while I am there next week, I am not even sure if I want to see it or not...

okay, please forgive me, but what is, EO?:confused3

DH asked me the same thing months ago when I told him about the announcement that Captain EO was returning. :faint: After I regained my composure, I told him that I felt like I had been married to a stranger for 11 years!

I second that glendalais. Someone on another Disney forum posted an internal company memo regarding Captain EO which is in strict violation of company policy. I really do hope that the Cast Member is disciplined for that. We all sign the confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement when hiring on at the Walt Disney Company.

All I can say on here is for people to stay tuned!

As the sister of a Cast Member in Glendale, I get to hear some of the great goodies that are coming up. However, I'm always mindful of the fact that he's telling me because he knows I'm interested and knows I won't broadcast on here. I would hate to think of someone figuring out who I'm related to and he gets in trouble because of my big mouth.

Now, that being said, we haven't even talked about Captain EO! Our buzz is always centered on his current project....

There is a Cast preview Friday, Feb. 12, from 3.30 to 4.30 PM. one step closer! :thumbsup2

(NDA? I don't care about that. The world must know!)

Since you're not employed by The Walt Disney Company and Affiliated Companies, you're officially not covered under internal policies on the matter, and are free per the Constitution to say whatever you want about the issue, regardless of whether there's any truth to it or not (not that I'm saying that there is either way).

If you want to say that you heard Captain EO will be debuting today at Disneyland Park, this Sunday at Epcot, and next week at Tokyo Disneyland Park, that certainly is your perogative, lol.

In all seriousness, does it really matter that the world knows when a Cast preview of EO is taking place? Not really.

Because, if everyone were to know when a preview for Captain EO was taking place (not that I'm saying that there is one), do you really think a "Cast Members Only" sign and a few police/security guards would stop people from trying to go?

Some of Michael Jackson's fans are...obsessive, to say the least. A fan or group of fans trying to sneak backstage and see such a proposed preview and causing a civil disturbance in the process isn't that hard to fathom, IMHO.

It will be interesting to see if the way that WDI has reprogrammed the moving floor will actually be able to sync with the EO film. It would surely add a new dimension to it!

Thanks guys for explaining this to me. I figured that's what it might be, but wasn't 100% sure. =-)

FWIW, here's what Al Lutz wrote today (Feb. 11):
Editor's Note 2/11: Hundreds of Disneyland Cast Members will be testing Captain EO on
Friday afternoon [Feb. 12], but don't expect it to open this weekend as a Valentines Day gift. WDI will
test the newly reprogrammed motion base theater floor to see if it syncs up with the EO film
well, before they commit to using that effect with the public. There's still lots of work to do
and perhaps several more weeks of waiting, although the Imagineers are burning the midnight
oil and hoping for the best during the tests. - Al Lutz
