As a new empty nester, I would like any info from others on WDW as a couple WITHOUT KIDS!!!!

dh and i have the time if our lives with just the two of us! :cloud9: We can go at our own pace [ which is more active than the kids he he ], we can afford to eat at the good restaurants ,no begging or fighting or whining, we have our romantic spots that we enjoy! we LOVE it! Of course, soon we will be able to take the grandkids which i am really looking forward to!!:yay: So go, and have fun ,enjoy each other and enjoy being kids again at disney world!

I remember when our youngest left for college and I stood there looking at my DH's balding head while he laid on the sofa watching football......there for a moment, panic set in with the thought of 'holy sh#$@t'!! Life is wonderful w/o the kids, our trips are alot of fun too. They've been gone so long now, that we DON'T want them coming. We've got 2 still single daughters in their early 30's. End up falling back into that 'mom' mode and my husband and I end up paying for the meals, etc, since they are single..............Back on track here with your question...........Our trips to WDW are great. If DH wants to sit in the room and kick back, he can, I can go do my thing. If we want to eat early (kids tend to think dinner is alot later than we do), we can. The only folks we need to please now are ourselves!
It tkes awhile to get into that empty nest mode, but once you do, it's wonderful!!!!

ITA with everything you've said. We LOVE our empty next trips to WDW.

Newish empty nester here. We love our "just us" trips to Disney. This year will be an extra special one as we met 30 years ago.

I certainly was happy to see this thread. I enjoy hearing about other empty nesters who also enjoy WDW. We, too love going at our own pace. And if we decide to go have a dish of frozen yogurt for lunch, well. we do! It's nice to just do whatever makes us happy.

DW and I love our time at the world just the two of us. We come and go when we want to not the kids. We do the EMH in the evenings now and we also do ADR when and where we want to. We still go down with the kids, grand kids and other family members but it is nice and so special just the two of us.

Agree with all above. Four days of our holiday trip is about our granddaughter and family, but all the rest of our time at WDW is about us and relaxation. We can sleep in, laze around the resort, and go as fast or as slow as we choose, with only two possible differences of opinion...very nice! It's a little easier to get ADRs for two, also. WDW has become a haven for us to reconnect, try new things outside the parks like boating, take tours, and resort hop.

We Love Wdw Without Children. There Is Somthing About Disney That Just Brings The Child Out Of Us.

We go by ourselves and with the grandkids. I like a combination of both. I took my kids three times a year while they were growing up in Ft. Lauderdale. So now they are fanatics.

Sometimes we will do partial days together or sometimes we do an entire day by ourselves. Our past January trip, it took three days to get out of Fantasy Land. We promply went to the Rose and Crown Pub.:rotfl: :rotfl:

We did the Living Seas Aqua Tour. The grandkids loved seeing Grandma and Pappa aspopcorn:: PART OF THE SHOW!

We too enjoy the dinning and EPCOT. Oh! and the resort pools and pool bars.

29 DAYS until our first Empty Nester trip to WDW!! I've been looking for a picture of the entrance gate from the road to use as 'wallpaper' on my computer. Had found a great pick, then the computer crashed, and now I can't find it again. We are driving, as my DH refuses to get on an airplane. *sigh* He also only gets 1 week vacation, so we only have 4 nights at WDW. Bummer!! I want more!!! I'm looking forward to a relaxing, slow paced WDW trip. I hope to find nice off-the-beaten-path places to sit and relax. Any tips?
TIA!

We did our first empty nest trip to WDW in 2005 and are going on our next one next Nov. We've also done 3 cruises during that time as well as trips to Las Vegas and CA and a few weekends within driving distance. Although our youngest son is moving back home (from a college 2 hours away) to attend college locally, at 21, we and he have no problem with us leaving him to go on vacation. He'll probably only be here one or two semesters since the plan is for him to probably move in with a friend who is also going to the same university. We really enjoy our empty nest time and since we married at 21 and 24 and had our first son at 23 and 26, we are now having that "us" time that some have before they have children. And we can afford it now!

DH and I enjoyed our first empty nest Disney experience last January. It was awesome! We cruised on the Wonder and then went to Disney itself. Lazy days. Early evenings  Slow paced dinners at real sit down restaurants. No whining or fussing. Do what WE wanted; when WE wanted to do it! We enjoyed reminiscing about our trips with the kids and the memories that some of the places and things brought up. And the reality is that we did have more $$$ (no extreme budget watching). I don't want to send any false signals, here. We love our children and look forward to sharing the Disney experience with them if life works out that way. But for now (or for that trip) it was DH and I reconnecting, rekindling stuff from long ago that was on the back burner for awhile... So enjoy. You'll have a blast. And make sure you go on Soaring...

Thanks for all your replies, it has been a bit of a sad fall and I think some WDW alone will help!!:thumbsup2

Safari Queen- are those JRT you have pictured?? We have 2 ourselves (I am sitting between the two of them as I type, grabbing a moments peace as I managed to convince them both to stay off my lap:lmao: temporarily!) Craziness abounds around here!! They are funny, loving dogs!

Where do you live in Mass?
