As per the title, just wondered if there is a policy on the refill cartridges and how they are to be carried/scanned or if they are even allowed.

I'm not asking if you can use an e-cig on a plane because I know that you can't, but not sure if I must buy cartridges here or order them to be delivered over there.

Which ecig do you use?

I'm tempted to switch and take an ecig with me, I have skycig but didn't get on with it too well.

I believe my dad could take his in his hold baggage (liquid pipe refills).

The only downside is you still have to use the designated smoking areas, unlike here where you can smoke them pretty much anywhere (my dad always asks before using them but has never been refused yet!).

Thank you both for your replies

Sorry I didn't get back on here after posting this

It's an Electro-Light pen type (the one that looks like a regular cigarette). I am not bothered about having it with me on the flight or in the airport. The reason I'm taking it is for the social aspect, which I am going to miss :) so being restricted to the DSA's is exactly the way I want it :rotfl:

Should I not be contacting the airport, rather than the airline?

We flew Virgin last January for our works conference; my boyfriend and several others took theirs on the plane, carrying them through security in their pockets or hand luggage. They weren't really as high profile then though and I don't think airlines and airports had an official stance on them. In fact I think a few people were using them on the plane, though I'm not sure it was actually allowed or whether the cabin crew noticed. It was a fairly quiet flight mostly full of my co-workers.

I would think you could keep them in your hand luggage, with the reasoning being you're not using it on the plane but in the airports either side when you don't have your hold luggage with you, but I would check with BA.
