We live south of Pittsburgh and are considering bringing our camper down to FW. Has anyone from our neck of the woods made this trip? How long did it take you? How was the drive? What was your route? Thanks for all the reports.

Hey, We are from just north of Pittsburgh. We went to the fort last month. 79 to 19 to 77 to 26 to 95 to 4 and you are there! We did it in 2 days to get to daytona, and then went to the fort early on the 3rd. We will go straight to the fort on the 2nd from now on. We stayed at a little hole in the wall campground on 26 on the way down. If you have any questions, let me know. And do it! Go to the fort you will love it.

We're just E of you in Ohio. 77 S to 26 to 95 to 4. We take three days when towing-can do it in two when not towing, but we like to take our time with our fiver in tow. Staying in SC and just N of Jacksonville going down...hoping to hit Jacksonville early enough to avoid the traffic mess. Coming home will stay in NC and VA then home. I think it depends on how much time you have whether you go in two or three days.

I'm sure you already know this, but be careful on US-19 in WV. They enforce speed limits -- it's their major income source.

We live in Uniontown and take two days, one long first day, then the second more leisurely day so we have extra time to set up and still get to the parks. To do it in 3 pretty equal days stay in Wytheville, VA KOA (nice slide at the pool), and Point South, SC KOA (very friendly staff). Two days we drive to Point South.
We drive the same route as RVUsa, but take 43 to 68 to 79 to start us out. It takes us 17 hours in our trailer with the four kids. (Yes, we have driven straight through before)
The drive is very good (as noted already watch on US19) and not too bad (or any owrse than anywhere else) traffic and construction wise.
If you come back after a holiday weekend traffic can be very bad up 95 and across 26, so we either leave a day early or stay an extra day to avoid this.
