Any DREAM Concierge Reviews?

Other than a problem with my Jacuzzi tub turning itself back on and nobody knowing how to shut it off at 1AM (it turned out this was normal...it just took 3 electricians, 1 host, and some officer looking guy until the evening to figure this out) They finally cut the power just so we could sleep. They said they had several complaints about this!

Ths is STILL happening??? It happened to us in the Roy Suite on the Magic... It was so weird, and it took a village to get it off......

Thank you to all the folks who have shared their experiences here. We are experienced Disney vacationers, but looking to book our very first cruise ever (family of 4, DS 12, DS 10), and were weighing whether concierge was worth it or not. . . .this is most helpful.

It is worth it. We couldn't get concierge on our next cruise (Aug 23 Alaska) and I'm not as excited as I would otherwise be. I like the first class treatment the DCl concierge provides. Rodrigo is is an asset to the Dream. We will miss him on the Magic.

We couldn't get concierge on the Dream cruise that worked best for our schedule in December but maybe next time.

bumping up for any new information. anyone else get the free internet service?

Yes, on both trips of our back to back.

Rodrigo said they would remove it on the first trip, I didnt even have to ask on the second.

For everyone stressing about the gates, on our 2/27 and 3/3 cruise all 3 gates were unlocked with a label on them that said OPENED.

According to the Concierge staff, there is a part that needed to be replaced and it is coming from Germany. Thats why the gates were unlocked.

I hope they remove them and put up a wall with a door that is like the ones on the concierge lounge.

so did you just sign up for the internet through the concierge? We won't use it a lot but like would like to check in here and I'm sure my son will be checking his facebook account. thanks. I wonder if Rodrigo will still be there in June, everyone seems to really like him

No, just sign up for the 100 minute plan ($40). The time goes pretty quick. If you have never used a satellite connection, you need to be patient for the delays inherent in the system. The latency is pretty significant. You can go through 100 minutes pretty fast on a 4 day cruise.

Rodrigo is great about watching your account to make sure everything is OK. If not, just let him know and he will take care of it.

Slightly off topic... is bottled water available in the concierge lounge?

Back from the 2/27 Dream....nothing but good things to say about concierge. Granted, we have no comparison to the Wonder or Magic, but my expectations were certainly met of the level of service we would receive. We needed to switch from late to early dining....no issues, it was done. Get my parents a last minute Palo reservation on the last night...it was done. Granted, those are just two little things, but things that made quite a difference to our cruise experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful and sold us on booking concierge on our next cruise:goodvibes. I definitely am sold on the early boarding, too.

ONLY drawback to concierge, the room location. First time I got seasick in 7 cruises. Didn't feel sick at all until I got up to our stateroom to get ready for dinner, and then it was game over. Granted, we had 12000, so we probably had the worst of the worst, but it was bad:eek: Winds were rough and the ship was rocking bad....

I've read this thread with great interest. I guess I don't get the concierge level at all.

In the past my wife and I took a two week B2B Mediterranean cruise on Crystal. Through our travel agent (and I still don’t know exactly why), we got a free upgrade to the Penthouse level that included butler service, which I guess is a bit equivalent to the Disney concierge level. But on Crystal, the butler delivered caviar to our room every night before dinner. And, the portion got bigger and bigger each night, because we kept eating everything the butler brought. Then in addition to caviar, we started getting room service from their Nobu restaurant. This, all before dinner.

So I guess I don’t understand Disney’s concierge level. Don’t get me wrong, we love Disney. Our oldest (15 yo) has been to WDW 21 times. We’ve cruised on Disney 3 times, and are about to go on our 4th cruise in April (the first on the Dream). But the benefits of concierge don’t seem to be worth the price, at least to me. Of course, I’m lucky to have a wife who plans everything to the nth degree, so we never have to worry about having to change our dining time. Also, we’ve never had a problem getting the Palo or spa reservations we want, either by reserving early or on board. As for the free drinks, we like getting a cocktail in the lobby and walking around before dinner (and we always bring our own wine on board).

As for the extra food – either delivered to the room or in the lounge – unless its caviar or Nobu quality, not sure of the benefit of that. I mean, there’s food everywhere. As I write this, I crave the chicken strips on the pool deck. I mean, how can fast food taste so good? I don’t know about you, but I portion control at lunch, so I can justify having a SECOND lunch. I used to resist, but no more. Life (and the cruise) is too short. From day 1, I’m going for that 2nd lunch. And if I get tired of the chicken strips, which never happens, I can always get a sausage or burger or treat from the Cove. The last thing I need are more choices from a lounge.

Anyway, this is just my opinion, and I hope the concierge fans here will take my post in the spirit that I’m writing it, with a friendly grin on my face. For us, we’ll get a regular room (actually, rooms as we’re a family of 6), and we’ll put the savings towards our next trip to Disney.

We debated back on forth if DCL concierge is worth it. This was our first time sailing concierge and we were blissfully unaware of what concierge had to offer and we knew no different, and that was good...but then we discovered the ease of concierge, and it is lovely.

I could try to justify why it is worth it to us, but I will sum it up to say that with a one year old and three year old, the offerings concierge gave us made our cruise experience TONS easier. To know I could grab breakfast just a few steps from my stateroom while my kids were still sleeping, make a last minute dining change that suited their vacation schedule better (I really don't like early dining, but after 2 days into our vacation before getting on the Dream, my kids told me differently.) To order in hot pancakes and a hot breakfast everyday for my 3 year old to eliminate the shuffle of getting 2 kids dressed and to know if had any need, I wouldn't need to wait in line or on hold at guest services for dang thing works well for me! The Palo ressie worked well....I asked on Tuesday if anything was open for Wed, the last night of the cruise, and it happenend with no issues. Considering it was a full cruise and for the last night at 7 pm, I was pleased.

Ask me again in a few years when my kiddos are a little more self sufficent or when we are forced to cruise in peak times with peak prices due to school schedules...but for us now, the ease and added luxury are worth it....but I wouldn't do it for caviar:eek:.

I agree with the previous post -- it is a matter of making the cruise as enjoyable as possible for us -- With 2 small kids - you cannot beat the ease/convenience of Concierge

Is it expensive? Yes

Is it a necessity? Certainly not

But we are not cruising a lot - it is a rare vacation for us - and concierge makes our trip extra special -- ensuring the Palo /Spa reservations we want ; getting priority boarding , etc

No one can make the decision for you - whether it is "worth it" or not

I am not a car enthusiaist - to me - any mode of transportation is fine - Now I would consider a sports car to be a TOTAL waste of money - but to a car nut - getting a fancy car is important - and they will argue the benefits of it.

It is simply about what you consider valuable --

I would much rather have an extravagant vacation than a fancy car, designer clothes, or nights out at clubs...but everyone is different, and you have to know yourself. Only this will help determine whether you consider it "worth the money"

No doubt, the cruise will be great whatever you decide!

Hard to put a price on some things...

My kids aren't little, but with having a tween and a 6 year old my hands are full. Concierge was able to get a new KTTW card for my son when his fell behind a stationary bench and couldn't be reached. I didn't even know until Lynda brought it to him at dinner. Lost tooth with our 6 year old... hard to explain how the Tooth fairy could find us - but not Tinkerbell Thanks to Concierge staff, there was a visitor in the cabin, a certificate and some Disney dollars.

I work full time plus some... Sometime to the tune of 60-65 hours a week. Fun to stay up and do initial booking of stuff. Priceless to be able to write to shore side and ask if the spa can do a massage at a time they normally don't - and get an email back that it is done.

It sin't just concierge staff. CM's know who is concierge by the color of the KTTW cards - and that leads to perks as well... It was very nice to be at Palo and hear that there are no spots open for sea nights - only port nights and then Magically get what you were hoping for... Not to mention that on the WBTA last year we had multiple dinners and brunches, and I was able to book tea for 16.

It really is the little things for us. It is definitely a splurge, and I hope that the staff on the Fantasy can deliver as well as Lynda did for us on the Magic! My job is planning and compliance for a software company. I like to turn it all over to someone else. To me that is priceless!

Does anyone have any reviews of the concierge lounge, service, one bedroom suites on the Dream?
