I've read this thread with great interest. I guess I don't get the concierge level at all.
In the past my wife and I took a two week B2B Mediterranean cruise on Crystal. Through our
travel agent (and I still dont know exactly why), we got a free upgrade to the Penthouse level that included butler service, which I guess is a bit equivalent to the Disney concierge level. But on Crystal, the butler delivered caviar to our room every night before dinner. And, the portion got bigger and bigger each night, because we kept eating everything the butler brought. Then in addition to caviar, we started getting room service from their Nobu restaurant. This, all before dinner.
So I guess I dont understand Disneys concierge level. Dont get me wrong, we love Disney. Our oldest (15 yo) has been to WDW 21 times. Weve cruised on Disney 3 times, and are about to go on our 4th cruise in April (the first on the Dream). But the benefits of concierge dont seem to be worth the price, at least to me. Of course, Im lucky to have a wife who plans everything to the nth degree, so we never have to worry about having to change our dining time. Also, weve never had a problem getting the Palo or spa reservations we want, either by reserving early or on board. As for the free drinks, we like getting a cocktail in the lobby and walking around before dinner (and we always bring our own wine on board).
As for the extra food either delivered to the room or in the lounge unless its caviar or Nobu quality, not sure of the benefit of that. I mean, theres food everywhere. As I write this, I crave the chicken strips on the pool deck. I mean, how can fast food taste so good? I dont know about you, but I portion control at lunch, so I can justify having a SECOND lunch. I used to resist, but no more. Life (and the cruise) is too short. From day 1, Im going for that 2nd lunch. And if I get tired of the chicken strips, which never happens, I can always get a sausage or burger or treat from the Cove. The last thing I need are more choices from a lounge.
Anyway, this is just my opinion, and I hope the concierge fans here will take my post in the spirit that Im writing it, with a friendly grin on my face. For us, well get a regular room (actually, rooms as were a family of 6), and well put the savings towards our next trip to Disney.
