Any doxie or mini doxie owners out there? Advice needed

Congrats! So adorable!

I really need to stop looking at doxie pics. Spent the afternoon looking at possible rescues and now this... I so LOVE these dogs!

I've heard this a lot about dachshunds. A lot of people who don't like little dogs tend to love doxies. For some reason, they don't seem like little dogs and I don't know why. Men, in particular, seem to like them (where they might not like other small-breeds) Has anyone else found this to be true?

This is absolutely true!!! I'm the one who always said NO LITTLE DOGS but man, I just love that little doggie of ours, even if she does get overexcited and pee, or bark when anyone walks by on the sidewalk....LOl

We are waiting 2 weeks to pick her up. We will be done with dance recital and I will be out of school for the summer. Right now we are gone a lot with extra practices and end of school stuff.

OMG she is soooooooooooooooooooo cute!!!!!!! Congrats and enjoy!!

You know, I agree about non-purse dog people liking doxies. I do not like toy dogs or small breeds but I LOVE my doxie!!!! I think it's because they are hound and not a yippy dog KWIM? I grew up with bassets so this is like having a tiny basset LOL. And my husband LOVES her except when she pees in the house.

So anyway, about our baby: She's a 10-12 yr old rescue, she's AWESOME, great with kids, was already trained, though she tinkles in the house sometimes and pees on my porch when it rains LOL. She's a lover and I'm her "person" so she follows me around all day LOL. She's a mini and about 10 lbs maybe.

My DD got a long hair doxie a year ago after graduating from college. A couple of months ago, she got another one because she thought her first was lonely.;) Her first one, the boy, is real sweet and loves to run around and play. She says he's housetrained at home, but when he comes here, he's not completely reliable.

She picked up the female around 8-9 weeks after she had her first litter. She's about a year and a half old now and is very timid. She's afraid of everything. But she's real sweet and quiet and loves to just lie in someone's lap. She never has accidents in the house. Right after DD and her boyfriend picked her up from the breeder's, she put her on a leash and the dog went wild. She hit her head on the sidewalk and knocked a tooth out! Turns out, she had never been on leash before. She does fine now.

Here's a pic of the two of them. The boy is the red one and he's 11 pounds. The girl is a couple of pounds lighter.
