Any Disneyworld moderate hotels that I should avoid?

Our price range is for the moderate hotels and I was wondering if you people had any suggestions as to which are most accessible to certain or every attraction, and which I should avoid. Thanks, bye!

one reason or another............we had a bad trip to CBR and won't return, but that doesn't mean you won't like it. I would decide what it is you are really looking for (theme, pools, transportation, size, food) and then put them in order. When you call to reserve you may not be able to get your first choice, so have a back up. You will have to bus to parks from all of them.

What I see as their main plus & minus...

CBR - too big & spread out but folks seem to love the tropical feel
POFQ - no sit down restaurant but it is the smallest and easy to walk
POR - buses can get crowded but beautiful with two styles to choose from
CSR - some don't like food court/convention area but it is the newest with an awesome pool and amenity area

POFQ/POR are sister resorts and share amenity and offer the boat to DTD

I don't think any are more accesible to the parks. You have to take buses to the parks from all moderates. I do like the POR and POFQ. They have a boat to DTD. That is kind of a nice change from the bus. CS is really big, lots of conventions. CBR is really spread out. They have an internal bus system just to get the guest around the resort. Now that is big. I love POR, but the FQ is very nice too. FQ is the smallest of the moderates. Easy to get to the main building, pool, food court etc. We just love the mansion theme at POR, but FQ would be my next choice. I think all the moderates are very nice, but the size of them is a factor for us, so we choose the POR or FQ.

None to avoid...Simply research the theme and layout and go with whichever strikes your fancy. I love Aligator Bayou at Riverside in PO and Ranchos at Coronado. pirate:

I've stayed at all 4 and the one I liked the least was CSR. The main thing I didn't like was the food court. It seemed more expensive and then they tacked on that 10% gratuity. Plus they had security gates all over. I'm short and have a problem reaching out the car window to reach the key card slot.

We don't care about pools or theme really. Food is something we will probably travel all over for to other hotels and stuff so that's not a concern either. It's mainly transportation and time to the parks and stuff. What does DTD mean I am a n00blet. Thanks, bye!

DTD means Downtown Disney.

Our favorite moderate is POFQ. :D

oh ok. For what it's worth, it's 3 adults here, so we don't need pool or any child stuff. Just access to the parks.

All the moderates have special Disney theming. All use the busses. One difference at PO and POR is that they have the boat that goes directly to Downtown Disney which is nice after a long day in the parks.

If you're adults who don't care about pool & restaurants, I'd pick Port Orleans French Quarter. It's smaller, easier to get around & has the boat to Downtown Disney, which you might get alot out of going to Pleasure Island Clubs at night.

POFQ because of size and inside and outside theming. The boat ride is a nice thing to do to DTD too. Have not stayed at CSR but it may be my favorite after our June trip this year. Will let you all know.

CBR has larger guestrooms.
That's true.

CBR rooms are 26 feet larger than POFQ. Thats about the size of a standard bathtub or my couch.

CBR is 340 sq. ft. and POFQ is 314 sq. ft.

I wonder why....

But to answer your original question, you don't need to "avoid" any of them.

CBR - Carribean Islands
CSR - Southwestern/Mexico
POR - Mississippi Delta
POFQ - New Orleans/Mardi Gras

Theming is going to be the only really big difference besides the size of the resort itself. CBR and CSR and both large, CBR being the biggest. CSR is also large but more manageable. POR is medium in size and POFQ is the smallest. No building at POFQ is more than a 5 min walk to the main building/buses. POFQ and POR share a bus and POFQ is the first to be picked up and the first to be dropped off. POFQ has one bus stop and POR has 4. CBR has an internal bus to get around the resort as well as buses that take you the parks. There is bus stop at each Village. CSR has 4 bus stops.

No sit down dining at POFQ, just a food court. CBR, CSR and POFQ all have pretty cool pools. POR's pool isn't quite as themed as the other pools. I am pretty sure they all have lounges. You can take a boat to DTD from POR and POFQ.

That about covers it I think. ;)

I think all the moderates are about the same really. We've stayed at POFQ, POR, and CBR and I liked them all about the same. Really the theme is the only difference. Except at POR/POFQ they have a boat that runs to DTD. My best advice would be to research them here on the DIS, look at pictures, and see which one you like best. :)

No, they are all very nice, and beautifully themed. Much will depend on your taste, as your choices will run from Antebellum South, to a Disney version of New Orleans French Quarter, to a Caribbean Island to Mexico. All are nice, the castmembers are great and the pools well themed and enjoyed by all. Our personal favorite is PO-FQ for the smaller, more intimate feel.
