Hello Everyone,
Over Christmas I bought a map for my husband. It isn't a fold out map they give to visitors but a map that was hung in the park. I was told by the person selling it, that his friend was a CM in the late 1960s and 1970s. When WDW switched out maps the cast members were allowed to take them. His friend took four. He gave away one, kept one and gave the other two to the guy I bought them from.
The map is huge....like four feet across. It's hard, not paper and in a metal frame with hooks. It also has a cardboard backing. I don't know if that is original or not. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me anything about it.
Thanks so much!

Thanks for your help. I wrote you a very long, nice response and then realized I wasn't signed in! Just know it was nice. :)

My map is exactly like that one except it isn't made out of paper. It's a hard map. I wonder if there is a way to find out if it actually hung in the park or not? I wonder what something like that would be worth?
Thanks for your help! I now have a year to place it with.

You might try emailing (or calling) the folks at Theme Park Connection. They have a lot of experience with relics from the parks, and could probably tell you if it indeed hung in the park, or maybe it was just mounted after the fact? It would have been the late 70's, as WDW wasn't yet open in the 60's.

How silly, I meant to say 70s and 80s.

I will check out the Theme Park Connection. I appreciate that help. The more I think about it the more it seems maybe someone just paid to have it covered and mounted. I really appreciate your help.
