Considering Passover begins next week, I was wondering if any of the DISers have any cool plans for this year.

Anyone going to Orlando for Passover? Anyone staying at one of the "Passover Resorts" in Orlando?

Anyone usually travel somewhere but staying home this year?

Would loved to hear what's happening out there in DIS-world...

We're doing our traditional seder again this year. We have our own family (very) abridged Haggadas and we run through it ASAP to get to the food. Matzo ball soup, gefilte fish, the work.

This year, my brother and his wife will be traveling to Italy for passover. I have a feeling they're gonna have trouble finding kosher for passover pasta there!

What are YOU doing this year, Challer?

This week my Church Coir is getting ready for A Big concert Palm Sunday. We are singing 11 songs for the Concert:thumbsup2

Passover at my Aunt's house this year. The usual "why is this night different from all other nights?" along with fighting, hiding the matzah, forgetting where the matzah is, more fighting, matzah ball soup, oh those plagues!, reclining, yet again more fighting, some jelly rings and macaroons, and finally remembering where we put that darn matzah! :goodvibes

Where do you hide the afikomen?

We usually put it in a place that at least I remember? :lmao:

Well the younger ones in my family have a knack for guessing all of the good hiding places so we have to come up with real good ones. One time we hid in between the books in the book case and found it a week later :scared1: We may not even do it this year because the youngest is now 12 and he probably could care less. Me and my other cousins are all in our 20's and 30's...we probably care more than he does :rotfl:

I am not Jewish, but I grew up in a Jewish neighborhood.
I went to Seder dinner, my friends joined us for Christmas Eve.

I love Seder dinner. Anyone want to invite me?

You guys need to up the prize then if he is not interested. :lmao:

I will have to try that this year, between the books...

I still have to go and get the food tonight. I think that only a few boxes of mattzah will be left. :scared1:

Oh, well. I hope it's a good one!

You can come to my house, but we live in Indiana.

Trivia Fact:

Did you know one year the Contemporary Resort had kosher for Passover meals & seders? (I think is was 2005 or 2007)

I'm going to Israel. I'm happy I scraped enough together to get airfare for my family. Of course, we can't afford direct flights, so I'm dreading the trek. Once I'm there, I'll be psyched!

I'm doing something quite different there - I'm doing the Seders in Eilat! Something about celebrating the exodus from Egypt at the actual Red Sea!

Wow, have an awesome time! I hope you find it a very spiritual experience. Many of my friends took advantage of birth right when we were of that age. Unfortunately we are past that age now so can't do that anymore...

Wow!

I hope that your seder is very meaningful!

La-shanah ha-ba'ah bi-Yerushalayim!

You will get to do this this year! (well at least you will be closer than us. :))

LOL. The family does abridged haggadah to get to the food, as well.

I am the Charoses Maven. That's always been my "job" for the seder. This year it's being held at my brother's machatunim.

There's a Chinese restaurant that is doing a seder, complete with homemade gefilte fish. I'm intrigued enough to wonder how it would be.

I wonder if there are any unique traditions out there.

I started one in my family a few years ago. In the Hagaddah, it states that all should see themselves as if they were actually leaving Egypt. In addition, the children are supposed to be very involved in the storytelling. So, I picked up a "Pharoh hat" at the Luxor hotel in Vegas, and after the four questions, I put on the hat and act as Pharoh. I immediately gather the kids around and "force them" to build me pyramids with blocks. Later, they ask me to let them go, and when I respond "no," they get to pound me with little plastic frogs. (did this get weird yet?) The kids absolutely loved it.

I'm packing the hat in my suitcase this year.

My 6 year old daughter is so proud of herself because this is the first year she can actually read the four questions in Hebrew. Before she used to memorize them.
