there's a debate going on at the DB right now about something that happened in your state today.

so I tried to run a search through dogpile and google to find sources of local news to refute what someone said.

the only newspapers I could find were filled with truly local news -- someone looking forward to a milestone birthday, a visitor reading a story to kids at a school.

did I just run a bad search, or do you really not have a newspaper that deals with "hard news"?

I'm from Arkansas. I don't know what the name of the Little Rock paper is. I think the one out of Fayetteville is called the Northwest Arkansas Times and the one out of Fort Smith is the Democrat Gazette. I guess I'll have to pop over to the debate board and check it out.

Hmmm. That's an interesting story. I haven't heard anything about it on the news tonight, but I haven't watched much local news. I'm sure there will be something about it in the papers tomorrow.

the sources you mentioned haven't updated since this morning.

guess I'm spoiled living where I do. Newsday, our newpaper, updates hourly -- sometimes even more often, if warranted.

BR, did you really think the entire state of Arkansas didn't have a 'hard news' newspaper?

no, aahmom, I didn't believe it. I thought I did a bad search. that's why I asked for confirmation from a resident.

though I was a bit surprised that the hard news sources in Arkansas don't update their web pages as often as the NY Times and other large-circulatin papers seem to do.

I don't really think you can compare the Little Rock newspaper with the New York Times. It's hardly a fair comparison.

no, you can't fairly compare them. but the big-city papers and tv stations update their websites almost on an hourly basis, and the Arkansas papers only update once a day. it just seemed a bit strange to me. I'm not used to a slower pace, I guess.

Mais cher...ya'll got a daily paper in the big city? We have to rely on the TV....once a day we pile in the jalopy and head for the big city 10 miles away ,jest ta watch the news on the TV's at Wallmart.
