I am considering visiting a hypnotherapist to help with a horrible habit that I have had since I was at senior school - all through my life I have managed to hide it well and only my parents and DH know, I attended a day at our church recently, and we had a talk from someone who self harms, it was a really interesting talk but I discovered that my 'habit' is a form of self harming - I am mortified and really hate myself for having no control. My new years resolution was to stop but that certainly did not happen.
As a last resort I am considering visiting a hypnotherapist, as I have tried on a couple of occassions to discuss it with my GP but been too embarassed.
Have any other disers visited such a practitioner and with what results!

ive never been to one but i hope you are able to get some help for your Habit x
I wish I had some great advice for you, but I would agree with everyone else and say, make an appointment to see your doctor as soon as you can, as it seems to me that you have made the first step by admiting to yourself (and us) that you need help to get rid of your habit
I wish you lots and lots of luck, and I hope you find the help you want
I'm also sending lots of pixie dust
ixiedust:, and as many people have said admitting you have a problem and looking for help is the first stop to recovery
Both my sister & BIL have seen a hynotherapist & they both thought she was excellent & really helped them.
