Any discounts on the purchase of an AP?
Before I shell out almost $2500 for 2 adult and 3 kids PAP's, I just want to make sure that there is NO where to get even the teeniest of tiniest discounts for these? Maybe I have not covered all my bases. I do have a Disney Visa and AAA. Any money to be saved anywhere on this purchase

The only discount I know of is buying through Shades of Green. To do this you must be a DOD employee, full-time or part-time military. That might help someone. I think the AP savings was somewhere between $20-$30.

Hmm my Dad is retired military. I wonder if her can buy them for me at Peterson AFB or Fort Carson... anyone know?

You might want to double check. I think that they used to offer discounts on APs to people that have one. You could buy the first one and then use that to buy the rest.

the only ones I know of are for FL residents, SOG, and AP holders renewing there AP's.
I am not sure the discounts for the others but FL residents AP's are 315.00 and 420.00 for the PAP.

The military APs can't be purchased on a base as far as we have been able to tell. The person with the military ID would have to be traveling with you and buy the APs at the Shades of Green. They will not sell them over the phone even if you fax a copy of the ID (we have asked before).

The only other discount available that hasn't been mentioned is for DVC members.

One other new discount this year is for DVC members. THey get $100 off!!

Only a DVC member can buy them and only for immediate family members living in the same home.

No, you can't get the discounted military APs anywhere but SOG. I guess you're Dad's in Colorado Springs, that's where we're at :)

I know this is breaking the rules....but, I've often wondered about this scenario.

To be able to use a Florida Resident code or purchase a Florida AP, you need an ID (driver's license or state ID) with a Florida address.

Well...if you go to Florida's DMV site....you will see that you can get a Florida ID (not driver's license) with only 2 forms of identification and none of them have to have a Florida address on them....(Birth Certificate, Your current state driver's license).

What is to prevent someone...who is within driving distance of Florida...from obtaining a Florida state ID and using it to get the Disney discounts?

I know it's against the rules and while I have looked into doing it (we live about 4 hours away from Pensacola) while researching every possible way to save money at Disneyworld....I am going the legit way.

As for a Florida address to put on the ID, you could either rent a box at a "Mailbox, Etc" type place that can give you a physical address (not P.O. box) or you could use a friend or relative's address if you have one living in Florida.

I know it's against the rules...just curious to know if someone has thought of this or ever tried this....lol

In order to get any Florida resident discounts, you would need to provide one of the following:
  • Florida driver's license
  • Florida state-issued ID card must have Florida address*
  • Florida voter's registration card with corresponding picture ID
  • Florida college/university ID
  • Florida-based military ID
A PO box number isn't going to be sufficient.

You are correct....

That's why I suggested renting a box at a "Mailboxes, etc" type place. They usually have a physical address.

If you rent a box there...it would be something like:

123 Something Road
#45678
Cityname, FL 99999

It looks like a legitimate address (not a P.O. Box). Plus...I'm pretty sure Disney would want to send your confirmations, AP vouchers, etc to a Florida Address if you were trying to get a Florida resident discount....so, you can't use a fake address or pick one out of the phone book or anything like that.

Of course...if you did have a friend living in Florida....you could use their address and get them to forward the Disney mail on to you.....

I just found it funny that you could get a Florida state ID without any proof that you actually live in Florida....of course, I think it is like this for most states.

I don't recommend trying this method to save money....I figured someone must have done this before. Maybe someone that lived real close to Florida...like say, Mobile, AL.

It's probably alot of hassle for not much savings.....
