Both kids have gotten their summer reading lists. One of the books was a free Apple download for the Ipad? We have a large school district, and a large borrowing area, thus a clamor for the local library books available.

Does anyone know if the Itunes offers any discounts for downloading books for students? With twins, and having to read totally separate books, it would be a cost savings.

Thanks for any advice.

Get the free Kindle and Nook apps for the ipads. Lots of free books available for both. Also, download Overdrive Media player. That allows you to borrow ebooks directly from libraries where you're members without having to do it through the pc.

also check if the books are loan-able and then look on one of the listing boards to see if somebody will loan it for you.

Also keep in mind that Out of Copyright Classic books are free from several places.

Apple itself doesn't offer any student discounts for items through iTunes that I have ever seen. And they don't let any prices below a certain level. It's either their minimum price, or free. As a PP said, most classic books can be downloaded for free. Either from Project Gutenburg (a project to digitize most non copyrighted works) or some from iTunes directly (normally a Gutenburg text that was converted to iBooks format) If you find the book at a lower price in PDF format from another vendor, iBooks can read PDF's.

I forgot about Project Gutenberg. I will check that one out. DS is starting
10th grade in a new STEM school. I know they are moving their resources towards downloadable texts. DS has an IPAD that he loves, He does not seem to complain as much when he can do his work using technology. Each student will be getting their own Macbook, so this will make him happy.

Thanks for the suggestions!
