Has anyone found any discounts at Christmas time? I would like to stay on site but don't want to pay out the nose. What aobut the Swan and Dolphin do their nurse./ teacher discounts apply then?

Yes, there are discounts. If someone in your party has an Annual Pass, there were AP discounts available at many resorts as long as you check in by 12/26 I think. AP rates have been out now for a couple of weeks for this time period, so I'm not sure what the availability is now. I got an AP rate at the Poly GV concierge for $235/ nite + tax for 12/21-12/27.

There were also nurses/teachers/gov't. rates available at Swan/Dolphin over Christmas/New Year's--again, I'm not sure what's still available. Lots of people were also getting excellent rates for S/D on Hotwire too. I got the Dolphin for $109/nt for Jan. 6-10, however, it was also coming up at that same rate over Christmas and New Year's. This was a few weeks ago.

I would just call WDW and S/D and see if these discounts are still available for your dates, and check Hotwire as well.

I was so excited to get Pop Century for 49 per night December 20-26. I decided to by an annual pass because we are renewing our Wedding Vows at disney next year so I can save twice. This trip is a little suprise for the kids for helping me with the house while I have been going through chemo. This has been a hard few months and they have been great. Can't wait to get away and spend my favorite time of the year with the Mouse.:Pinkbounc

My problem is teh earliest I can get to Orlando would be Dec 25

Thank you for your concern. Yes I am doing fine. It should be over in about a month. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do a nice dinner for Christmas on a budget. This trip we have to do on about 1500 dollars. We are driving straight through from Kentucky. I will bought a Annual Pass. The rest will get 2 day 1 park. We will be spending a day making Vow Renewal arrangements and touring sights. Arrival and departure days will be just relaxing. One day of Golf for husband and son, shopping for me and daughter. What do you think do you think this budget is it possible. By the way the golf is at a military rate of $45. Thank you for any imput.

I just checked Hotwire, and it looks like the Dolphin was coming in at $111 per night, before any hotwire charges or tax. I don't know what your dates are, so I tried 12/20 - 12/29. I did notice that the rate jumped to $135 during and after New Years. If your travel dates included new years and you were going to try Hotwire, you might want to make 2 reservations - one at the lower pre-nye rate, and then another to complete your stay at the higher rate.

BTW, here's how the Dolphin shows at Hotwire, by amenities :

4 Stars - Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Business Center, Golf Course Nearby, Tennis Court Nearby, Laundry Facilities

You could also verify this by choosing "packages" on hotwire, with the same dates. In this listing, Hotwire shows the resort name and amenities , along with its star rating. Dolphin was the only 4-star with its exact amenities listed for that time period.

Teri,

Hope you are well on your way to a speedy recovery.

We suggest that you try one of the many restraurants that serve a wonderful buffet dinner. They tend to be a good value.

If you think you can splurge just a little try a reservation for the candlelight procession in Epcot for either Christmas Eve or Christmas day. If you choose the first tier it will cost a total of $123.50 for a family of four. We have reservations Christmas Day for the Biergarten. The other choices in tier one are Norway and The Garden Grill. We liked the Garden Grill but if you want to go to the show it is a bit of a hike. You can do dinner without purchasing the reserved seating for the show. You don't need to the reserved seating to see the show either; but from what I hear be prepared to stand in line a long time. This is our first time at WDW for Christmas. We are excited! Hope this helps a little.

Have a Great time! Congratulations on getting rehitched! You might want to do the the rehitching ceremony at the Garden Grill. I hear it is a lot of fun.

Maybe we will see you there.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have forgotten about Candellight Processional. My kids and I did it two years ago and ate at Biergarten. You will love it we me some really nice people that shared a table with us. My daughter and I ate ate Norway, we went for our compined birthday on May 17 of this year. I think we will try that my husband is from Norway and he may love that. I have figured a way to give us $500 more for our budget so we may be able to splerge a little more. Thank for your concern I am feeling better and the trip is giving me reason to keep up strength and get better.

Teri,

We hope you and your family have a wonderful time! We will have to try Norway sometime, too. We still have family living there. Maybe we will add it our list of places to eat. We had no problems getting reservations for Christmas Day for the candlelight processional. Maybe we will see you there.

Let us know how you like the Pop Century. We had reservations for there but decided to upgrade to a moderate hotel. We arrive the day that it opens; so had a few concerns.

Good Luck and Have a safe, wonderful and magical trip!

If you qualify for the military rate for golf you may also qualify for a discount on rooms. Somewhere on the official Disney site is a whole area devoted to military discounts. I know some run out Dec 19 but maybe there are others that would help you. Hope you all have a wonderful trip.

The annual pass discount is same the same rate that they offered military during to Armed Forces Salute. Can't really beat $49 per night. The other discounts will expire before we arrive. I hit a great sale at the Disneystore yesterday so I was able to buy several gifts for kids. I can't wait I am ready to finish my treatment and have some happy times. Thank you for all of your impute.
