What are some perks, particularly dining perks for AP holders? I am brand new to my AP, thrilled but not sure what to plan for. Should I plan on getting a TIW card? Any AP tips are welcome & helpful!

Many of the restaurants in the parks and Disney Springs offer a 10% discount on food. For this year, there are also a few that now offer a 20% discount through September, and it looks like most of the Resort restaurants are at 20%.

Hope this helps. We used my discount the beginning of December. I look at it as I am saving the 20% tip.

This year I probably wouldn't get a TiW card. I had it in the past but with the current discounts it's not worth it for us this year. The break even point with the TiW card is around $750 I believe so you have to spend that much before you start saving. There are 45 different WDW restaurants with a 20% discount this year and all other park and resort TS restaurants have a 10% discount.

We just got AP's and are thinking about the TIW card. We're also coming back in December, that's actually why I bought the AP's....two trips in 12 months. I was thinking about the TIW due to alcohol consumption. I'd guess we will get at least alcoholic beverage each lunch and dinner, likely more for one of us:drinking:. Does that change things, as the TIW discount applies to booze as well, whereas the AP discount does not?

I think you probably need to sit down and do the math. Get an idea of what you might order and see what your savings difference would be.

Not to sound like a lush, but sometimes our food bill is less then the alcohol bill...simply because we may just get appetizers and a salad, along with a bottle of wine (and an after dinner drink). My husband can do damage on the food bill but I'm the guilty one with reference to just an appetizer. I'm thinking with 2 trips in 12 months that hopefully we'll at least break even with the TIW....hopefully.

We have an AP and the TIW this year. I believe that lots of the AP discounts are at lunch and we usually do TS dinner. Also we are 3 adults and we do like beer or wine with our meals. We too are doing 2 trips in 12 months and we will save money using mainly the TIW card

For the AP discounts this year it seems to be any meal and is just about all park and resort restaurants which isn't the norm . I used it on dinners mainly just before Christmas. They also don't appear to have blackout dates as TiW does which only matters if traveling near those dates.
