Any difference (crowd-wise) between 1st and 2nd week of October?

We were originally going Oct. 8-15, but are now thinking of going Oct. 1-8, to stay away from Colombus Day weekend crowds. However, there are 2 Jewish holidays during that time frame, one the first week (Rosh Hashanah) and one the second week (Yom Kippur). Will they affect the crowds? I don't even know if everyone around the country has those days off from school but we do here.
Also wondering that since the Food & Wine festival is getting under way then, if the first week would be more crowded?

Thanks for any input! :flower:

I am "maybe" going in Oct as well. I would also like to know about the 2nd and 3rd weekends...

Hope this helps: In 2003, we went October 12- 19th and the crowds were very light. Granted, we had nothing to compare it to, but we thought it was awesome. This year we went a week later and the crowds were much worse. Apparently, the UK had a big break then and it seemed like all of England was there (not that I have anything against them, just noticed the difference). That said, I have no idea how the Jewish holidays will affect crowds. They're pretty serious holidays, not really "let's go on vacation" holidays, but I could be wrong. In general, we still think October is a great time to go!

DH and I have been to WDW 5 times since 1996 during Columbus weekend and truthfully have never found the crowds to be unmanageable. This time of year is absolutely beautiful and has become more popular over the past few years so we have noticed an increase in volume of crowds but it's not bad.

October is becoming more and more popular and more and more crowded, with extra activities like the Halloween party and Food and Wine Festival drawing in both locals and travellers. Fifteen years ago, even with the British Invasion, crowds were very light but I hear that is not necessarily the case.

As for Jewish holidays, it could attract crowds. I'm sure the Jewish population is participating in their religious observations, as a prior post indictated, but the holiday accords the much larger non-Jewish proportion of families an excellent opportunity to travel.

I have to say that the weather is phenomenal at that time of year. Some days are a bit cool for swimming but others are just brilliant.

There is a UK holiday, I believe, after the first 2 weeks in October.
The crowds were not that bad either time. Even in 2003 w/ all of the media events w/ Mission Space and Wishes it was not that bad.
We are planning on being there that time this year.
