The Jazz Club will be closing and be replaced w/ a Guinness sponsered Irish Pub. We're very excited about the update. The last times we've gone to the Jazz club it seemd very 'slow'.

Any 'insiders' know when this change-over will be done???

Outstanding...

What is your source?

Probably not Guinness "sponsered (sic)" but more likely it will be an Irish Pub Company design and installation... Guinness founded the company in 1992 to reproduce and build "authentic" Irish pubs worldwide... The Irish Pub Company does actually own a few of the pubs, but most are independently owned/operated... Here is a list of pubs that they've done...

I can't wait...

I'm very disappointed that the Jazz Club will be going, I've seen some AMAZING musicians perform there. I understand why, it was probably the least busy of the clubs, but I loved relaxing there. :(

At least I am a Guinness fan, so if they have to replace it, someplace with Guinness is good by me...

the intercot forums have the same rumor...
but the jazz company is no longer listed as a venue on the WDW PI site...
anyone know when it closed?

Good to know... I am betting that the pub will be open before spring break/easter...

I hope its open by this summer. Id love to check it out.

I hope it's open in May. Sounds fun!

My 'source' at WDW says it's to be an 'Irish themed spot' not Guinness owned...but it still sounds cool to me....and it's supposed to open the end of May or first week of June....! :drinking1

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Irish hospitality and a bit of blarney will be coming to Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World Resort in the form of an authentic Irish pub and restaurant. Scheduled to open in summer 2005, the pub (yet to be named) will feature the very best of Irish food, flair, heritage and entertainment.

The Irish culture is known for its warmth, character and hospitality, and the new Downtown Disney pub promises to deliver an experience immersed in genuine Irish atmosphere -- from food and drink to music and entertainment.

The pub will be warm and welcoming with one-of-a-kind fixtures and furnishings -- all designed and built in Ireland by Irish craftspeople. Additional decor items include Irish antiques and bric-a-brac.

Traditional and contemporary Irish music, storytelling and dance will help create a lively social ambience and the friendly pub staff will bring Emerald Isle charm to Downtown Disney.

The restaurant's gastronomic delights will be the work of Chef Kevin Dundon, one of Ireland's best-known chefs. He will introduce a menu that blends traditional Irish fare and fresh ingredients, all with a modern flair. Chef Dundon's credits include cooking for celebrities and heads of state, overseeing deluxe international hotel cuisine, opening a premiere hotel and restaurant, and appearing in his own television series.

"We are thrilled to introduce an authentic Irish pub to Downtown Disney," said Ed Baklor, vice president of Downtown Disney. "The superior level of quality, energy and appeal that this new venue brings is a perfect complement to Downtown Disney's lineup of world-class retail, dining and entertainment."

The pub will be owned and operated by Great Irish Pubs Florida, Inc., the Irish-owned company that previously created "Nine Fine Irishmen" at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

"We are working extremely hard here in Ireland preparing to deliver what we believe will be the very best expression of Irish hospitality ever seen in the U.S.," said Paul Nolan, one of the establishment's co-owners. "We are extremely proud and excited to have the opportunity to bring a real slice of Ireland to Downtown Disney."

The Irish pub will occupy the building that formerly housed The Jazz Company. Pleasure Island club admission will not be required for entrance to the pub.

Thanks for posting!!

Another reason to walk to DTD from SSR and I don't drink beer! But the pubs are great places to eat and the crowds are always alot of fun!!

as i theorizied early on, this will be an irish pub company operation... which means it will be impressive (prefabricated and predictable) but impressive nonetheless... my local watering hole is one of the irish pub company products (the victorian dublin pub style) and i could not be happier to see this go in to WDW... it will be a huge anchor for dtd and a great dining/drinking option... they typically are loud, raucous and fun - perfect for adults and kids, alike... nine fine irishmen is a great joint except it is inside ny,ny and the wait staff often sucks (but such is the case with many lv establishments)...

now the question is when???? from the irish pub company website "From contract to completion, the turnaround time is normally approximately eighteen weeks. This includes the preparation of detailed design drawings, the manufacture of pub fixtures, fittings and furniture, shipping and the final fit-out."... i hope for my sake that they are ten weeks into it but i doubt it... come on be open for st. patrick's day... we'll be in wdw on March 16th...

Can't wait, this looks like it will be GREAT! It is supposed to open Summer of 2005!:sunny:
