Any dentists out there?

My 7 yr old went for her teeth cleaning recently. On her 2 very front teeth (the adult ones that are growing in) there are some white spots on her teeth. They had orginally told us that once they were grown in they could sand off the white spots. Well now they are telling me she is getting her molars in and they look the same way. They think it is some kind of mineral deposit in her teeth that is doing this and they think they can't sand it off, she would need to have her teeth capped when she is a teen or something. This is a very noticable thing on her front teeth! My main concern is, should I be worried about this "mineral" showing up in her teeth? Something in our water maybe?

I can't be too helpful, but DD6 has white spots on her baby teeth. The dentist told me it wa from something that happened in utero (ie it's my fault). I am hoping her adult teeth don't come in that way, too.

The girls have a dentist appointment on Tuesday, and I will ask about it.

White spots on the adult dentition is usually indicative of dental fluorosis. This happens when the child ingests too much flouride while the adult teeth are forming. This is why it is very important to brush your children's teeth with a non-fluoridated toothpaste up until they are about 3 and can spit out the tooth paste.

Thanks for the replies--so we have flouride in the water I think, plus she gets flouride at school. She pretty much always used a non flouride toothpaste when she was younger. I guess there's not much I can do now......
edited to add:I just googled dental fluorosis and the mild flurosis is what her teeth look like.
