Any Delta First Class flyers out there?

Getting excited for our upcoming trip to Florida! I purchased an upgrade to First Class after a decent offer from Delta. But, now I have questions.

We have two flights each way - from our small town to Minneapolis and then to and from MCO. If I am reading the Delta website correctly, we each get two free bags and they also can be 70 lbs and not 50. Is that correct?

Also, will be allowed to board early even though our flights to and from our home airport are on small planes without first class sections. And, at MCO will be saving any time with the Sky priority line for security?

Thanks for any advice!

Welcome to the world of First Class flying. We fly Delta regularly and often in 1st either by upgrades (I'm Platinum on DL) or paying. I believe you are correct on the weight of your bags but I thought the limit was 3 bags per person. Since we've never come close to either limit I don't really know. However you should find the official story on the delta website.

You should be allowed to board first (after medical pre-boards) even on the smaller planes, but sometimes the gate agents at the small airports just do open boarding. MCO does have a Sky Priority line for security.

Thanks! One more question if you don't mind. Does having the sky priority really help with getting luggage faster? We have a late arrival into MCO and would love to get the bags ASAP.

I used to fly a lot for work on Delta and USAirways. I was gold on both and got upgraded frequently. Delta's first class was far better than USAirways. I last flew FC on US in August, some improvement but not as good as Delta.

Yes, in our experience your bags will be some of the very first that come out. However, that will still mean a wait at the carousel before bags from your flight start showing up. Still, you should have your bags in ~20 minutes after you arrive.

Yes and Yes.

It has been reduced as of last year to 2 bags at 70lbs for general members. Medallion members and Delta AmEx card holders would still get one more.

In theory yes, however I've also waited awhile as well. Ironically the last time was on the night MSP-MCO flight that got in at almost 10pm. Took about 15 minutes for bags to come off.

Ahh, thanks. That explains it. I recalled being eligible for 3 free checked bags on my last several Delta flights. We are Plat DL and Delta AMEX, so either of those would have given us the extra bag.
