We took the plunge on our recent western Magic cruise and are so excited about "going home"-- we have ressies for BCV for Easter Week and are hoping to squeeze in a trip to HH at Thanksgiving, if possible. Looking for other Delawareans who might be willing to share their experiences and wisdom!

Well, I'm not "Delawarean", but my dh is, tried and true. We currently live in W.V. (but we haul it on back to Del. every holiday!) DH is from New Castle area; his folks have a place there and in Lewes, and rest of his family all lives up there.

We've been DVC-ers for a couple years now, and shared in my sister's membership for many years prior (I think she's a DVC charter member! Whaddya expect, tho -- she used to live in Miami...) On paper, we're "BWV" folks, but we just seem to always end up at OKW! In a few weeks, we're headed for a 10 day stay at VWL. I really really hope it goes well... we have bragged so much about this club, and we're taking dh's brother & his family with us, so if it's NOT a good trip -- we're never gonna live it down! ANd maybe EVENTUALLY we'll actually make it to our home resort! My sister has been to the HH and said it's wonderful -- she's also really used the Conceirge Coll. and other DVC features and has taken her family through upper NE (to all the B&B places); to Tuscon to a ranch; to Hawaii; on a Disney Cruise.

Welcome to the fun!

Cindy

Hi keenercam, we are from north wilm, just became DVC members in May this year. Going home for the first time this Sunday 21 for 5 nights at our home BWV. Been to WDW before but never stayed on site. Wish we joined years ago but that's how it goes.
We already have 2 preferred studios booked for May 3- 9- 2003 at (where else) but BWV we love the atmosphere and location.
Talk to you later, Paul

Well we're in Boothwyn, Pa. Can't get much closer without actually being in the state.
I think we joined last Dec. Since we are also Fl residents, we bought DVC to travel elsewhere as well as stay on property every now and then.

My mom lives in New Castle, DE and has been a member of DVC at OKW since the summer of 1993 when I worked there in the college program. Then this past winter I took the plunge myself and bought in through a resale at BWV. I'm especially looking forward to the 7 day western carribean cruise I have booked for this September using my points. So far since January my reservations have included, a weekend at DLP, another weekend at BWV, the 7 day cruise, another weekend at BCV this fall, and I just made reservations for the Grand Californian in January for a few nights. You've really got to love the options available to us through DVC!

Although I live in Texas, Delaware is "home." I grew up in Newark and moved down here after the explosion at Amoco in New Castle - my dad worked for them and tranferred down here in 1980. I was just there two weeks ago - my son and my parents are still there visiting.

I'd move back in a minute!

Hey Kennercam and Paults ,
It's nice to see other Delawareans on this site. We seem to be few and far between.
I live in the Pike Creek area and we joined the DVC last August.
Are first trip was in April to the BWV's. We had a 2-br with a Boardwalk view. Great time and we are counting the days until the next trip!

I agree with officer tigger that it's nice to see other Delawareans here. We also just recently bought into DVC. Our first trip was last summer to HHI. This summer we're heading down for 4 days at HHI and 6 days at our home, BWV, with a 4-day stay at ASM in between. We can't wait to stay in our home for the first time!

Hi Keenercam and welcome home!! We are Delawareans who bought a resale of OKW 2 years ago and bought an add on at BCV this year. We are from southern Delaware and are not far from Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. My husband and I grew up in North of Wilmington and moved south about 9 years ago. The area in the south is rapidly growing, especially around the beach area.
We stayed at a 2 br at OKW in October and loved our stay there. The rooms are really big. We have stayed at BC, but not at the villas. We love the atmosphere of the Boardwalk so are anxiously awaiting our stay next month at BCV. We stayed at the BWI in June because I was suffering from Disneyitis and could not wait until August. We are big Disney fans. I'm so happy to hear that there are other DVC owners from Delaware (Small and Wonderful).;)

Welcome home to paults too! Have a great stay at BWV. Enjoyed our stay at BW in June. Love the Luna Pool and the great atmosphere. Don't forget to try the great restaurants on the Boardwalk. (Andy Reed, Phila. Eagles Coach was on the Boardwalk eating this week). They have some great free Boardwalk entertainment that you don't want to miss (bike riding piano player, magician, sword swallower, and musicians). Have a magical time!!

Hi there,
We have been DVC members since 1996 and have loved every minute of it. Last year we were able to attend 2 Dis Meets while at Old Key West. It was neat meeting people from Scotland and other places in the United States. In a couple of weeks we will be leaving again for WDW and OKW. Can't wait......

Since I teach, we are limited to trips at Easter, Christmas, and summer. (High attendance times) This Easter we went down and only went into the parks one day spent the rest of the time at the pools at OKW, visiting with friends, and playing miniature golf.

I teach with two other DVC members and my best friend is also a DVC member. We have a great time trading stories and photos of our WDW vacations.

We should plan a Delaware Dis Meet. :D

I thought I'd chime in to say hello. I am Cam's husband. We live in North Wilmington, only a stones throw from the PA state line (just off Foulk & Naamans Road).

We have been very active on the Disney Cruise Line boards recently, we just returned from our second Disney Cruise on June 29. While on board we took the DVC plunge and the planning has certainly begun. We have plans for HH at Thanksgiving (we are wait listed) and our "home" BCV at Easter. We have been looking at the Sagamore in NY for a trip next year too.

I just need to learn all the abbreviations OKW, BWV, HHI, DLP, etc. and I will feel much better. I know most, but need help on the others. I am sure I will know them really well in no time.

It would be great to have a Delaware DIS meet. Count us in. We're looking forward to sharing ideas and information. Have a great weekend!

My husband and I live in north Wilmington off Naamans road. We bought into OKW in June 1993 and have added on three times. Our next trip is in August. Hubby and I are both teachers. We have gone to OKW every Christmas since 1993. Last year we made four trips but this year we are cutting back to three.

Welcome Home Keenercam!! We are from N. Wilmington and have been DVC members for 2 years now. It's some of the best money we've spent, especially since it would be worth next to nothing if we had left it in the mutual fund. LOL

I bet I have met you Disneyteach at a mutual friends Disney party!!

Maybe we should have a Delaware meet??

Boy was I suprised to see this post! Being from the First State my whole life I am used to traveling and answering the question "Where is Delaware?". Hence the Del-A-Where? qoute below my name.
DH and I live in New Castle and have been BWV members since December '99. It is one of the best decisions we ever made. We had the opportunity to take the whole family to WDW last year. Even though we are still making payments, we consider the timeshare already paid for. We calculated the room costs for our trip last year, we would have paid over 6k if we had not been using points!
Our next trip will be in October of this year. We are planning 5 nights at OKW, 2 nights at VB and 3 nights at VWL. We have never had the opportunity to stay at any of these resorts and are looking forward to our trip of totally new experiences!
It's nice to see so many Delaware natives on the boards!

Good morning, everyone!!
Wow, was I excited to see how many Delaware DVCers there are! I never expected such an overwhleming response to my post. I would LOVE to try to set up a Delaware DVC DIS meet and am thinking that if we set it early we can all park it on our calendars and look forward to it. It would also give everyone a chance to pull together their photos from the various resorts to share with everyone. What do you all think? Maybe a Sunday afternoon in September? Or a Sunday evening? Our daughter is in color guard so saturdays during football season would be hard for us and our son will likely be tied up with school sports or other commitments too.
Maybe a restaurant in Wilmington somewhere where we could get a reservation for a large group? Let me know what you all think. Feel free to email me at keenercam@aol.com
Maybe we could even compile a list ahead of time as to who has been to which resort, the time of year, plusses and minuses? Also hear everyone's experiences with concierge collection, disney collection, II, etc.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone.
Cam

So.... is this going to happen? I think it would be great. E-mail Cam (address above) if you're interested, we should be able to work something out. Have a great weekend!
