My membership is up for renewal soon...$45 to renew...ugh. I do go often but it just seems so steep. $45 could be better spent on groceries. They have great prices on lunchmeat and milk...but you really have to know your prices on other items to know if you're actually getting a good deal...I think you can do better at the grocery store with sales and coupons sometimes.

I noticed BJs has a lot of incentive deals to get new members...great coupons, etc.

Does anyone know if there are discounts on member renewals? The economy isn't that great...and you would think they would want to keep customers...

check with local school. Our PTO did a fundraiser last year; it was $35 for 15 months and the school recieved $5 for each membership. Maybe your local BJs can tell you if anyone in your area is doing this fundraiser.

Shoot, get the upgraded membership version, it's $60. I think. You get a rebate on all your purchases and for me I make money every year, well beyond the cost of the membership. They send you a check in the mail 3-4 times a year (there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to this) and you can apply it back to your BJ's purchases in store.

Sorry, I don't know of a renewal discount but .....
Can you "share" cost with a friend or family member and then just shop together? Does not sound easy but if $$ is tight for you, perhaps that'll at least get the cost reduced.

My girlfriend and I did that at a local "gamer shop" where BOTH our kids spend $$, we use the 1 card for the discount and it works great as we split membership cost.

Best of Luck!

Just went to our local BJ's today to sign up for a free 60-day trial membership (we let ours go last year cause we didn't want to renew at $45). When I was signing up for the free trial, the cashier let me know about a special they are running that is $45 for 14 months, and you get an extra membership card "that you can give to whoever you want" - so this would be a great way to split a membership with a friend or other family member!

I got a renewal notice in the mail that if I pay with my Mastercard I get $10 off. Mine expires at the end of October so I went on Friday and used it. I think I had one last year too, I can't remember.

When I renewed last June I did the upgraded membership that gives you 2% back on all purchases. It was $80. I already have over $40 earned. so I expect by the time I have to renew again, I will have earned enough to make the membership cost free.
they send a gift card every 6 months for how much you have earned at that point. December and June I think.
If I earn back the $80 membership fee I will be happy.
I save a lot of money there, by using their coupons and combining with manuf coupons, and using multiple coupons on items.

I really don't spend enough to upgrade to the $80 membership...when the kids were younger, I always loaded up on toys and never left there w/o a new DVD...now I am more frugal...more money wise actually!! And, unfortunately, I have no family nearby to split a membership.

How does couponing work at BJs? Can you "stack" Bjs coupons with other mfg coupons? I tried once and was told that you couldn't b/c the BJs coupons are actually mfg. coupons.

Thanks....

I never pay for BJ membership. Every few months there is a coupon in local advertising for 2 months free trial membership. I sign up one time, and when the two months is up...next time we put it in my DHs name. They try each time to get us to join a paid membership...citing all sorts of specials, etc, to entice us - but I stick to my guns and never pay. Works best for us.
