Any deals /discounts / thoughts on the Candy Cane Inn?

dont you need a special ticket of some kind for EE to be effective? I have a disney store at the mall close to me where i can buy my 3 day hopper tickets , but i want to make the ressies at CCI seperate. will i still get EE?

1 EE comes with all three day hopper tickets, won't matter where you buy it. Just go in early on an EE day and present your ticket as normal, you will only be allowed one EE per ticket.

Pretty sweet. ill be picking up a 3 day hopper at the disney store later on then <3

though it would still be nice to get that souvinear hopper ticket....
Im looking at disneyland hotel and thinking of booking a dream vacation with good neighbor at either CCI or the tropicana...it IS right across the street and a bit cheaper, and having disney send me those souvinear tickets would be sweet. plus i get toon town morning madness. but i actually would prefer EE into the magic kingdom....if i buy the 3 day hopper at the disney store, will i get EE or TTMM?

I know you get EE but don't think you get TTMM perhaps someone else could confirm, as for Tropicana vs CCI I would definitely go with Tropicana, it is right across the road about a 5 min walk to Security Check whilst CCI is about 20 min. We stayed at Tropicana in 2004 and it was good, rooms have fridge and microwave and it has a good pool complex, breakfast is only ok. For a better breakfast and bigger rooms try next door at the Carousel Inn, that was cheaper and better than Tropicana except in the pool department.

Kiwi, I think your friends must be slow walkers. You have said on this thread and others that the CCI is 20 minutes. It is NOT 20 minutes. I have walked it a few times. Sometimes even at night with a tired 4 year old. It NEVER took me 20 minutes.

I don't know, CCI looked a good 20 minutes to me! Yes after a day in the park my feet hurt and were tired! We walk slow! LOL Wayyyy too long of a walk to me when there are so many closer motels. I always see people say 10 minutes to there, and I think wow they must be power walkers after a day in the park!

We were going with the Carousel, but switched to the Tropicana when I found out they had NO hot tub and the pool is very small. That was an issue for us. The breakfast at the Tropicana was small as I said, but was fresh and just fine (muffins, fruit, danishs, juice and coffee). Our room size was just fine for us. It's a motel so I don't expect HUGE rooms anyway. It's also next door to the Carousel, closer to the cross walk. I think either are probably fine, our biggest issue was the small pool and no hot tub, that made us switch! For us the Tropicana ended up being $30 cheaper then the Carousel too. So that worked out well for us. :)

im looking at the Tropicana , CCI , and now, the Camelot inn. is the camelot inn across the steet from disneyland? looks nice. and i got a rate of like 450$ for 3 nights at the tropicana for a standard king room , and at camelot....for 30$ more i get bumped up into a deluxe king room for 3 nights, decisions....

Another one to look in to is Best Western Park Place Inn and Suites. I've gotten rates for a suite for $450 (4 nights). Again not so great in the pool department, but the rooms look quite nice, and they are next to the Tropicana as well. Talk about right at the cross walk, you cross and your AT the motel!

Not sure about the Camelot Inn, it's right next to Carousel on the other side. Not bad of a walk either. Here's a map website of all the hotels, gives you an idea where everything is at:

Just wanted to chime in on the souvineer tickets. The ones from Disneyland Travel are simply hard tickets that are the size of a credit card. You can get something almost exactly the same at the Disney Store. The picture may be different, but that's it.

Have fun on your trip!!!:wizard:

The only time I walked it was going up to have a look at their room, I think they timed it from their room to Security check cause it took me about 15 min from the crosswalk, according to a mapping website its about 900 yards. Everythings relative I suppose and a power walker could maybe do it in 10 while most people are probably closer to 20. The key thing for them was they were dissappointed as the hotel just didn't come anywhere near to its hype...

:surfweb: we just got back from our first trip and we stayed at the Candy Cane Inn, it was just like all the pictures on the internet. The rooms had queen size beds which were new !! we had plenty of room and it was 3 of us. we took the shuttle each time and the drivers were nice even if we didnt' tip. we thought the free breakfast was great....we heard no one at all for the 3 days we were there and we thought less noise and riff-raff than staying right across from the park, we talked to someone in the park who was staying across from park and they had big holes punched into the walls...? regarding the VHS tapes they have a case of movies that you could borrow -if you have time. we were very happy with our stay and would stay there again....the towel were so soft and thick...:cloud9: good luck.:hippie:

I've stayed at several of the motels right across the street, and I still like CCI the best. (I DON'T work there, so this is a genuine compliment.)

The walk NEVER took us 20 minutes (as Linda also agreed). It's basically a walk from one end of CA Adventure to the other. (roughly 3 blocks) You don't have to cross any streets or wait for any lights as you do in the motels across the street. It was an EASY 7 minute walk--even with my kids. I found the walk to be somewhat closer than the walk to the parks from the Disneyland Hotel even!

The advantage to having a shuttle is mainly for resting at the end of a long day of walking.

And as far as the breakfast goes, it's FAR superior to anything I had at any other motel. I also really love the rooms and the quality of the bedding and towels, etc., at CCI. Yes, it's an old renovated motel, but so are all of the properties across the street. CCI has just been maintained a bit nicer.

Granted, it's cheaper at the properties across the street, but it's also squished, parking is at a premium, and grounds aren't at all pleasant. With little tiny kids that need frequent trips back to the room, go for the hotels across the street. If you want something a little quieter, and a bit higher quality, the CCI is it. That's why people rave about it.

To each their own certainly! I'd never say that was a 7 minute walk, not for us anyway. When I drove by there, it just looked like another motel to me. Not really worth the walk for us.

We'll stick with the Tropicana, beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was just fine. Grounds were kept up nice, and we never had a problem with parking (always got one right by our room). Price was good, with a location that couldn't be beat to us. The pool and hot tub were good size, which mattered to us. When I want higher quality, more then a motel, we stay at the DLH or GCH. For offsite trips this place was just fine. But if others love the CCI, great! I hope they all have wonderful trips! As long as everyone is happy with where they go, that's all that counts! :)

I don't think I can resolve the argument about which hotel is better (I lean towards the CCI, but the Tropicana is really nice as well), but think I can help with the disagreement over walking distances and times.

Using the Google Map Pedometer tool (found at http://walkingguide.mapmyrun.com) and only following sidewalks and crosswalks - no cheating and drawing direct lines across where you couldn't actually walk! - the distances involved are as follows: (both from hotel lobby entrance to security check at DLR, so distance from your room may be a little further)

Candy Cane Inn: 0.52 miles
Tropicana Inn: 0.25 miles

Assuming a walking speed of 3mph (a 20 minute mile), which is what most people can do, that gives you 10 1/2 minutes to get from the Candy Cane to DL and 5 minutes for the Tropicana. However, I'll point out you probably should add a minute or so extra to the Tropicana time as there's a busy road to cross and the lights are never on WALK when you want them to be!

Personally I walk at 4mph (a 15 minute mile) so the times for me would be 8 minutes and 4 minutes - and a real power walker could cut another minute off that easily.

All of which proves nothing, but it was fun doing it all the same!

What a neat map certainly can't argue with that!!! My measurement was about the same as yours, 0.55 mile for CCI and 0.25 for Tropicanna (centre of hotel to Security check). What I find strange though is that the other posters here don't remember the Crosswalk at W Disney which because it was at a crossroads was slower than one outside the Tropicanna which was just a straight crosswalk across harbour. I suppose you could just walk straight across as the road you are crossing is the main entrance into staff parking but as I remember it was quite busy and it was six lanes so quite wide. I suppose after our friends experience we are just suspicious of rose tinted postings about the CCI, its not a bad hotel, its just there are better, cheaper ones that are closer.

Granted I know I'm not a very fast walker. I'm on vacation and after all the walking in DL I take my sweet time to save my poor feet and what energy I have left! LOL My DH agreed with me when we drove by, that it wouldn't be worth the extra walking, when what we had was nice and close. I think it's just relative to what the person views a short walk and what is worth it to them to walk further.

I'm not saying the CCI is a bad motel either. I'm sure it's fine. We just saw options that we felt were better suited for us. :)

I'd like to ask something.:wave2:

I live in Montana; could I order one of these tickets from the World of Disney store in DTD through the mail? And if the answer is yes, is there a shipping charge (silly question, I know!)?
