im planning on staying there for 3 nights in mid july for 2 days of disneyland and ozzfest on the 3rd day. im really thinking of getting the premium room so we can check out at 2pm , and it has a VHS player so ill bring some tapes to watch after a long day in the park.

does anyone know of any deals or promotions going on at the candy cane inn? and arent they a good neighbor hotel of disneyland? when i go to disneyland.com and check the vacation package deals on the good neighbor hotels, candy cane inn isnt on that list from what i see, although candy cane inn itself, says they are. what gives?

anywho, any feedback or suggestions would be awesome before i book my trip. Also is it too late to book ressies for Fantasmic or blue bayou?
Itll be my first trip with me and my gf alone to disneyland, let alone staying at a hotel so i want it to be a magical one :flower3: :wizard:

ps. i need tickets too :P

Don't bother with a package. Just go to the Candy Cane website:
www.candycaneinn.net

Look at the prices there, and then call directly and see if they can do any better. If you have AAA, that brings it down a bit.

As far as the Blue Bayou and Fantasmic go, it can't hurt to call. If nothing's available, show up at BB as soon as they open, and ask to be put on the list. Sometimes something will open up.

Good luck!

We love the candy cane. We have stayed there three times in the last year or so. It is an older motel, with doors that open to the parking lot rather then into a hall way. However, the location is great, its well care for, the breakfast is a great way to start the day and the shuttle really makes it a perfect place to stay.

They are a good neighbor, and you should find them on the disney site. However, if you are trying to book through costco you wont find them listed. You also will not find them listed on expedia. hotels.com or any of the other online book agencies. Its direct or through disney only.

I just stayed there this spring and loved the Candy Cane. It is not a high end hotel, but the rooms are large and comfortable, the gardens are beautiful. Transportation is easy and it is wlaking distance to the parks. Breakfast is also good though simple. I recommend it highly and will go back.

You might want to try a TA. Ours is great. She booked us in the CCI, tickets, ressies for Bayou AND the fantasmic buffet with no problem. We're mid-July also.

I think they frown on formal shout outs for names, so PM me and I can pass along my TA's name and e-mail.

If you have your own, I'm sure you'll be fine.

When's the ozzfest?

Yeah ive read alot about it on the boards and here alot of good things about it. i checked the site for candycane inn and the rooms i wanted, the premium 2 ween bed room, was 600 for 3 nights, but i still need to buy my disneyland tickets. should i just get my 3 day hopper tickets from candycane inn and throw it into the room reservation, or should i get it somewhere else...they said its a souvineer ticket...and includes EE into toon town, what do the souviner tickets look like, are they really cool?

also, i want to book the room asap, but am a liiiitle short in my bank account, but ill fix that soon. do i have to diposit the money when i call to reserve my room or online? or am i not billed until arrival or checkout?

if i change plans and have to cancel, how far in advance do i have to let them know so i wont get charged. :D magic time!!

one last thing!! not related to this though, how do i get a trip countdown banner in my signature to show up with my posts?

If you book directly with CCI, they will not charge you for the room until the day of your reservation. You will need a credit card or debit card number to hold the room. If you buy a hopper from them I believe it will be the regular "paper" tickets, not the souvenir tickets that disney travel is offering (they are hard plastic). A 3 day or more hopper will include EE to the park (Fantasyland and most of tomorrowland), however that is different the the toon town madness. You have to book through disney travel to get the morning madness. If you book through Disney travel you will need $200 ($300 if you buy the trip insurance) to hold the reservation. Full payment is required no later then 30 days prior to your trip (which might be sooner then 30 days- you just said mid- JUly).

I would probably skip the premium room if money is at all an issue. We have stayed in a regular and deluxe and both are fine. They will hold your luggage if you are wanting to go to the park and don't have a car to put your bags in. Its a lot of extra money to pay just for late check out- its only a couple hours different.

Oh, i didnt know there were 2 different EE through disney travel and one with non-disney travel. id rather have fantasyland EE anyway ^_^
is there any way i can not stay on site, but still get hard plastic tickets with EE? to keep as a souvernier ^_^

it will be the first time we drive out of san diego o.o so i wanted to give my gf the extra rest if she gets too tired from all the walking at disneyland and just wants to sleep in before we go home and drive back home, since shes not used to this. and we might go to disneyland the day we check out for a little bit, it depends...

so if i call CCI tomorrow and make the reservations , they wont charge me anything until check in day right? sweet <3 now i just got to get the DL tickets with EE from somewhere.

And yeah the premium rooms are a bit more, actually , its only 100$ more than a regular room, not that bad, and i want to make the trip special. plus it has a VHS player, so we can watch movies when were back from the park.
this will probably be the only trip we splurge like this in a long long time, so i just want to enjoy it as much as possible, after this trip, time for college, and all my free money and time goes bye bye ;-;

EE and toon town morning are two very different things. EE, as I said in the other post, is entry to fantasyland and tomorrowland one hour before regular park opening. Most 3 day or more hoppers will give you one day of EE. It is offered on Mon, Tues, Thur and Sat.

Toon Town Morning Madness is a special voucher you get from Disney travel. It gets you into toon town one hour early. Toon town normally opens one hour after the park. For morning madness it opens at park opening time. They have a little parade and show. YOu have time to meet some characters and ride the couple of rides in that area. Its cute, but over all, regular EE is a better use of time ( and an easier perk to actually get!).

Buying your tickets in advance will get you the best price. I recomend getting them from the Disney web site. You can either have them sent or you can get "print at home" tickets. The print at home ones are then exchaged at the gate for a ticket you can use to get fast pass.

YOu might call and ask the candy cane how much their tickets are. They may be the same price as the buy in advance tickets from disney.com

CCI has had good reviews as the other posters have indicated but truthfully, being a motel, they are pretty high priced...I can usually stay at Sheraton Anaheim for aboaut $25 cheaper per night and the hotel is much more luxurious and comfortable than CCI...I realize that CCI includes a breakfast but come on....how much is breakfast really going to cost you unless your eating at a character breakfast...Sheraton has its own shuttle too and sheraton has a deli and little store inside plus a bar:rolleyes1 ...and CCI rooms are NOT big....but this is mho...take it with a grain of salt:goodvibes

Ahhhh the Candy Cane Inn. . . someday I'll try it . . . if HoJo ever stops offering their entertainment rate! ;)

Actually, if you compare prices through Disney travel the SA is $22 MORE per night then the CCI. Then add in the cost of breakfast- for us thats about $35-40 for a family of 4, and the CCI is a much better deal. Not to mention the CCI has one thing the SA can never have- CCI is walking distance if you dont want to use the shuttle or miss one. Its only 10 minutes by foot.

We stayed at Candy Cane Inn last monthfor 5 nights and loved it. The rooms and grounds are very nice. It's only a 10 min walk to the entrance of either park. They also have shuttles they leave every half hour. We will stay here again when we return to Disneyland.

ah but your also talking about booking a pkg vs. booking directly through the hotels...and CCI is a moderate whereas sheraton is a superior so if your booking a package its $22 a night difference between moderate and superior and again, everytime I plan a trip I book several hotels directly and decide within the month we're going which one to stay at...Ive always included CCI and Sheraton and Sheraton has beat it out everytime...and as far as the walking..I choose not to walk it ever :lmao:

We always book a package. We try to do in the first 1/2 of the year, when kids fly free. Our last trip was only $500 in airfare (round trip, for 4, from Seattle).

We typically choose not to walk as well. But, if you miss that last shuttle of the night, you dont always have a choice.

Had friends staying there because of Trip Advisors good rating while we stayed at Carousel Inn, they were very dissappointed, CCI was more expensive, smaller room, noiser, smaller pool, less facilities, further walk to DL (20 Min) and not as good breakfast. They felt cheated and now believe CCI has been writing its own reviews on travel sites. Still for all that CCI does have some loyal fans, its hard to believe all its fans are invented. It does have very nice grounds and from all accounts the staff appear very genuine.

Unless I am mistaken, all park hoppers 3 days or more have one day of EE. You can prepurchase your parkhoppers from The Disney Store and get the hard plastic ones. I know some of our grocery stores have them too.

That's our plan for our next trip. I'm always afraid something will happen to our paper tickets that I order through the Disney site.

CCI is great if you dont have kids. Beautiful grounds, ok continental breakfast, some shuttle drivers are awesome some are snitty if you do not tip, shuttles can be slow quicker to walk sometimes. The only thing I really dislike about CCI is the pool. Fits 15 comfortably..that's it...yes it is very small.

We drove by there, just to see it, since it's mentioned so much here. Looked like an okay motel, I will admit that I don't understand the hype over it. Seems a bit further to walk then I'd want to.

We stayed at the Tropicana, and it's RIGHT across the street. Really spoiled me having that short of walk. No waiting for shuttles or anything, that was really great! Made going back on a whim for whatever reason (lunch, nap, a swim, for something at the motel) really easy. The pool was decent size and the hot tub was really nice. The breakfast was small, but just fine in being enough to get you going. Our room was of good size and was quite clean. We really enjoyed our stay. It's another motel as well, but the location couldn't be beat IMO. The only time I'd walk that kind of distance now would be for the DLH or PP. That close location really spoiled us! LOL
