It's been a few years since our DCL trip and since then we have added a new member to our family.:cutie: Since the next possible time that we could cruise would be 2017, and DD would be 3 then, we would need room for 6. Are 2 rooms my only option?

The only rooms that hold 6 are the Royal and 2 bedroom suites on the Magic/Wonder.

First-- congratulations! How awesome to be traveling as a family. We have four children -- ages 12, 10, 8 and 5. One of the best things we did was to move to a two bedroom system. We place all four kids in one room and the parents are in the other. This had so many additional benefits aside from the parents having their own privacy. Double the bathrooms and storage space! Getting ready for events became a little bit more stressful. Of course, this has a serious hit to the pocketbook but options are really limited (especially on the newer ships).

I've heard that some people book a verandah room for themselves and an inside across the hall for the kids, but that would depend on the ages of the kids. While each room has to have an adult assigned to it, no one is doing a bed check to see where you end up sleeping. However, if the kids are too young, it wouldn't make sense to be separated from them, either.

Connecting Staterooms are a good option, but alas the only ones for 6 are the Royals, and like PP stated the two BR on the classics.

We did that on our NCL Hawaiian cruise -- my daughter was an older teen and she had the inside room and we had the verandah. She basically hung out with us until bedtime anyway, but she really enjoyed having her own space.
