I saw a couple of other threads and thought I'd start one in general.

Does anyone know of the status of any of the Port Hotels on Cocoa Beach?

I hope everyone is safe and well. We are all thinking of you folks in Florida. :D

They're only allowing residents back into Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach, so we haven't heard any reports yet. Someone posted that the Radisson doesn't expect to reopen until Saturday.

DCL did tell passengers that cars left at the port were not damaged. I heard from a friend who lives 6 miles inland from Cocoa that she had no damage...didn't even lose power.

I called Ron Jon's today since I have reservations for the night of 10/1 and their phone message said that if you had a reservation soon, to call after 12:00 noon on Wednesday and otherwise, call after Thursday. Hoping that they only had minor damage.

Thanks for the info. Hope all is well.

We have a friend up here in MA that has a place on Merritt Island, no damage and no water. What a relief for her.

It is bizarre how the hurricane hits & misses in the same area. In our town, there is a two block area with large signs completely damaged & a roof torn off a convenience store, but a bunch of small voting signs still stuck in the ground.

Hi Sarah'sMom, I would be interested in how Ron Jon fared during the storm. I would really appreciate an update.. Enjoy your trip!

I had a reservation for this Saturday at Ron Jon. Today I received a phone call from them informing me that they are cancelling my reservation - they are closed while they make repairs from water damage. I couldn't get any specific info. I asked about recommendations of other hotels in the area - again no info as they aren't sure when everyone can re-open. I think we're going to stay at WDW that evening instead. Besides, we're not even sure if we'll be cruising from PC!

If anybody knows a hotel at the port that is OPEN this weekend, let me know. I can't get through to anyone and Ron Jon put me out on the street!!!! I guess I'll HAVE to go to Disney. I'll suffer through it!!!!! :hyper:

Hey there,
Norm and I went riding around yesterday and it appeared as tho the Radisson was open - since we can't work all day today at the shop, Norm and I will go around town and check the hotels out - most of those that were on the beachside did receive if not damages, but dealt with the sand blown from there - Now be advised if you are coming down to get on one of the ships, I do not see it happening this weekend since the entrance to the port has to be dredged - check with your TA asap --call me at the shop at 800-950-4559 for I have the phone forwarded to my cell ok.

Thanks Shirley.

Our well wishes to you. :D

Hilton evidently lost windows.

All Beachfront hotels south of Patrick Airforce base are still pretty much closed by where I live--but mostly due to lack of power.

The Ramada south of Patrick on A1A--sustained some stucco/siding damage over a large area and you can see the building structure framing that was underneath it.

Hopes this helps--evidently Frances was selective in her damage area and those with damage either have very little or extensive. At least where i live...sounds like the cape is about the same.

We had a Priceline reservation on Friday for the Holiday Inn at Cocoa Beach. After trying to get status all week we were finally told yesterday that it would be closed. Priceline issued a full refund...

Hello there
UPDATE ON THE HOTELS HERE IN BREVARD COUNTY.
I have called most of the hotels here and found most have been
damaged by Francis - here is the scoop - The Radisson is open and received no damages 800-333-3333, Ron Jon received water damaged and HOPES to be open Tuesday - Hilton is closed until further notice, Best Western closed until further notice, Doubletree will be closed for 6 to 8 weeks - Holiday Inn is also closed until further notice - I didn't call the smallers ones such as Motel 6 since the bigger hotels got hit so hard, I am sure the smaller ones got a great deal of water damage also.
Anyhow will keep everyone posted.
We are having a lot of people coming in to see the damages which is tying up traffic even worse than ever - the bridges are open for travel - anyhow hope this helps on updates
Always

Snelsonbrown-

Thank you so much for the update. I had reservations on the 17th at the Radisson and was not sure if it would be open or not.

I have heard mention of the Perfect Gift several times. Could you PM me more information about it?

Do you have an guess as to whether or not the cruise on the 18th will leave out of Port Canaveral? I am wondering if I should change my reservations to the Everglades area?

Read in the Wall Street Journal this morning that both the Hilton and Holiday Inn may be closed for weeks. Apparently the dining room windows in the Hilton face the sea and were blown out.

The article also had tips on dealing with hurricane season. One was: "Cruise itineraries may change, be sure to contact your cruise line." Gee, thanks for the tip!
