Any counter service worth seeking out?

DHS: yea right. :rotfl:

LOL, so true!

Our favorites:
MK:
Cosmic Rays (eat there every trip)
Columbia Harbor House

Epcot:
We don't book table service at Epcot anymore, we just sample CS around World Showcase.

AK:
Pizzafari
Flame Tree

That said, I wouldn't really go "out of my way" for any counter service. We know the parks well enough to work our way towards where we want to eat. I don't even go out of my way for table service anymore, we plan our day so we end up where we need to be in time for our ADRs.

Tangierine Cafe in Epcot wowed us. I never thought my daughter would eat Moroccan food EVER and she gobbled it up, and can't wait to go back in November to get her cousin hooked. Also love Earl of Sandwich at DTD. We tried to eat at Columbia Harbor House but they were closed during our stay which was disappointing. Everyone raves about it so I'd give that a try.

Wow, I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the Yakitori house at Epcot in Japan. I'ts quite good!

Yakitori House is very good! We enjoy it very much. The problem is I don't like the dessert that comes with the meal.

Our MOST FAVORITE is Tangierine Cafe. My husband is in the navy, and he loves schwarma platters. He says it tastes just the same as what is served by the locals around the boat when they pull in to port. PLUS, the dessert is baklava. Yummy!!!

I also really enjoy to use my snack option at the Franch Bakery. Lemon Tarts are my favorite.

I'm so hungry now...going to go eat a weight watchers snack!

In our handful of family trips, we have somehow never eaten in Sunshine Seasons, something I hope to rectify this coming January. We did eat at the ABC Commissary last time, and while I can't speak for all of their offerings, I found the Curry Chicken to be pretty tasty.

We're also fans of Cosmic Ray's - both the food and the entertainment. Monitoring this thread for other ideas for our upcoming visit during the Marathon Weekend period. :thumbsup2

MK - Casey's (but it's our tradition now)

Epcot - Sunshine Seasons, the bakery in France (yummm ham and cheese croissant sandwich!!!!) or Mexico and that's only because I had some amazing nachos there

AK - Flame Tree

DHS - I'm in the minority here but we really love going to Pizza Planet and actually enjoy our pizza and salad.

MK: Peco's Bills and Cosmic Ray's

EPCOT: Sunshine Seasons and Yakitori House

DHS: Backlot Express.. I think its the lesser of all evils

AK: Flame Tree BBQ

DTD: Wolfgang Puck Express

We always hit these, and have never been disappointed!

I actually really like Pecos Bill's in MK. I liked the taco salad so well that I had it twice last vacation!

We did the CS dinning plan in June and loved it. Our favorites:

MK : Columbia Harbour Hause
Pecos Bill (but only if it isn't crowded, CM yelling "make sure your whole
is with you, no one will be permitted beyond this point" got on my
nerves when I was trying to eat and chat)
Casey Corner ( only at night if its in the summer, you eat outside)

Ak : Yak & Yeti - tried it this summer and loved it, different

HS : Pizza Planet - pizza is good and we LOVE toy story so that is our
pizza fix for the week

EP : We would order one lunch from different countries and all share

I'm in the minority but I do not like Sunshine Seasons. I got the asian noodles/vegies/and tofu (instead of meat) it tasted okay, but was cold and the noodles were gummy.

You're not the only one. I went there once after seeing all the positive reviews here. I thought I must have gone to the wrong place or something. :rotfl: Nothing special.

I'll give it another try though. Sometimes it is just what you ordered that was eh or boring. I hate to give up after one try. It's just so hard when there are so many choices!

We also love the Tangierine Cafe. But we like that type of food.

There have been many threads on this subject from time to time. Here's a short list of the CS restaurants I see showing up again and again.

Wolfgang Express DTD, east or west side.

Sunshine Seasons Epcot something for everyone, great value

PORR Excellent create your own pasta

I appreciate all the suggestions. I am one who refuses to let ADR's rule my trip and with the various offerings at CS restaurants it is not just "hamburgers and chicken tenders" the entire trip.

For an upcoming four day trip, except for breakfast at the Cape May Cafe on the day we depart, it will be counter service galore!:)

We also like CHH. Besides that I love to snack around the world in Epcot. Kringla in Norway is my absolute favorite but I give high marks to the French bakery too.
