I've read a lot of reports on various threads that all on-site guests are getting in for the HP previews, no matter when they booked. We're kicking around the idea of booking a FL resident rate room just for the heck of it, but when I called the hotel directly (Pacific), they said no, only people who booked before the cut-off date are being let in. Does anyone have firsthand experience with booking recently and getting in this weekend? It's temptiing but 'm not going to pop nearly $200 on conflicting information.

That's what I thought, but the person I spoke to at the hotel specifically told me no. I challenged that by saying I heard all guests were getting in but he insisted they are not. Of course, Uni tends to be inconsistent in what they say half the time anyway. I just don't want to put out the $$ for nothing. We live 15 mins. away so we don't need the room and Express for other rides is useless to us since we have it already via our Premier passes.

When I called on Thursday they told me that the latest update was that all onsite guests would get in at 8:00. They said that the latest they will let you in the front gates if you are headed for WWoHP is 8:45. Somebody posted the letter that the front desk gives you on another thread.

I know - the conflicting information is very frustrating -- I think the reservationists are having a hard time keeping up with all the changes. For example, this coming weekend (first weekend in June) is my birthday, so about 4 days ago I called and asked if I booked a room at RPR, if I would have access to WWHP. I was told no, that I would have had to book before March 25. I started to see reports that this was not so, and had been told by another reservationist that all guests were going to get the "extra magic hour" starting June 1 (sounds like it started before that) -- I can't imagine after that one hour they'd be able to sweep WWHP for any hotel guests that had booked AFTER March 25... :rotfl:

So, I went ahead and called and booked for my birthday - and was told I'd have early admission to IOA AND Harry Potter, and it may or may not be open after 10 am. So, we shall see - I know I'm looking forward to it!

Webmaster Pete clarified his statement to say he only needed to show room key to get in. He didnt need the letter or anything, so I'm taking that as what is happening.

Well, I'll add some more confusion.

I talked to Guest Services and they specifically said I could get in with just a room key.

I called Royal Pacific again and they said absolutely not, uh uh, no way, it would be unfair to people who booked packages, yadda yadda yadda. I was all reeady to book but that has me very gunshy now because I've spoken directly to the hotel both times and these are the people who would be giving me my info. at check-in.

Of those two, I would trust guest services. The park has control and ultimate info on who gets in and who doesn't, not the hotels.

Edited to add: I bet anyone could get their hands on one of those pre-printed letters the hotels are giving out. So it would seem reasonable that the park just decided to go with the room keys for admittance.

I went ahead and took the plunge because the toll free reservation line said thbe same thing as guest services. Considering the attitude at the hotel I won't be surprised if they refuse to give me the letter. But who cares...I'm checking in early and hightailing it to HP no matter what they say. It breaks down to about $45 pp per 2-hour HP visit for DH and I since we should be able to get in both days. Then I can be done with it and stick to Rip Ride Rockit while the crowds descend on IOA this summer.

It doesn't sound like anyone needed to show the letter, just their room key. What time are you planning to check in? We'll be doing the same next Monday.

We plan to get there by 7 a.m. so we can get to IOA as soon as it opens. They said we can get our keys early. Our room obviously won't be ready but we don't need it anyway. We might just use it to hand out at the pool in the afternoon.

We got in today with just our room key, they didn't check anything else. We just showed it at the gate along with our APs and we were let in with no problem. My son actually got to ride FJ before it went down this morning.

Confirming that as of today, all onsite hotel guests had access to the preview with room key, and must be at WWOHP by 8:45 am.

Interesting. I think I may have made a few people staying onsite be extra glad they're staying onsite. If they see me tomorrow and are successful in checking out HP (I warned them FJ may not be operating, and if so, just check out everything else and that it's a limited preview), I may get hugs. :cool2:

Have you folks ever think that they don't want everyone to know that they are letting everyone that is staying onsite in? Have you folks ever think that, it's pretty much widely reported now, that FJ is NOT ready to open to the public and that they are only letting the package folks in because they have to (ie the whole point of the package and to make up for the fact that they sold them early)?

They may not want it know but there's little invention called the internet they're gonna have to learn to live with.

You better believe if we were still there tomorrow you'd be getting hugs from the 3 of us.The info on this board is the reason we booked a room at RPR thurs night, and words cannot express how grateful I am. My girls, not kids, mind you, they're 18 and 21-had literally THE time of their lives. The minute we stepped through the gates, my oldest said "I belong here." We imagined having a wedding there, and she said "You know, I wouldnt want the wedding to take away from my Harry Potter time!" And this is a kid who we tease about how jaded she is!To you, and a couple of others who posted enough info that we were able to figure out how we'd be able to get to the preview, thank you, thank you, thank you, for what I believe is a once in a lifetime experience- a gift we will never, ever forget. That, to me, is what these boards are about.
