Any comments on AKL "Mara" for dining plan?

Has anyone been to this AKL "restaurant" recently? Since we r staying at AKL in Dec. , and are on the DINING PLAN... just wondering what is good for a counter service or snack. What can we order that counts as a "counter service" meal. We are trying to grab a quick munchie after a day at Animal Kingdom, and then possibly heading to Magic Kingdom later on, after a little rest.

We ate there a couple of times on our trip earlier this month. They have the basics - hamburgers, chicken breast nuggets, fries. They also have fried shrimp, which I thought was a very good deal on the DDP, chicken caesar salad (which MIL loved) and a very good turkey ciabatta sandwich. I got the sandwich on the last of our trip and was so glad I tried it. It was very big and I only ate just a bit more than half. It had some type of olive salad on it though so some people might not like that. Instead of fries, there was the option of couscous. As a dessert, you can get the zebra domes (5 of them), fruit, ice cream and other things too. You can even go back later and get your ice cream - just don't forget like we did!

There are some other things we didn't try, like soup and a pita (separate entrees). There are a lot of options and I think worth trying since you are staying there. Plus, there is plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating as well.

We ended up cancelling out trip entirely, but I was looking forward to eating at Mara. It actually was the main reason we switched our ressie from WL to AKL. Roaring Forks didn't appeal to me at all and there were a lot of "its too small, crowded" comments for my liking. Some love RF, but Mara held greater appeal. Let us know what you thought.
