Hey everyone,

I just booked the Character Breakfast at Animal Kingdom (forgive me for mispelling it) Donald's Breakfastarous. I would be going in August. If anyone has any comments about this character breakfast I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

It's been a few years since I have been there but my kids definitely enjoyed it. The food was good and everything you would expect at a buffet. Very good mix of characters but its a bit chaotic with all the commotion and people moving around for the buffet.

We ate there in Oct. DS13 wants to return in Aug
We have a PS the 1st wk for 8am. There's talk that the buses may not run in time to get us to early brkfst
I just made another PS for our 2nd wk for 920 - after park opens - I'll cancel if/when we get into the brkfst our first wk

My older DS is a huge Donald fan, so we've had breakfast at Donald's 5 times over the years. We have enjoyed it every time. The food is typical breakfast buffet. The characters are a lot of fun, and it's the one place where you will definitely see Donald. The theming is an archeological digsite camp with dinosaur artifacts scattered around. It's theming makes it more appealing to boys and older kids than some of the other character meals. The CM's can be really fun here too. Out of our 5 visits, we've had 2 hilarious servers; the other 3 did not joke around but were still attentive.

It is a solid Character Breakfast. There is nothing too special about the food. The atmosphere is a bit chaotic but kinda goes with the themeing. The character handlers do a good job making sure everyone sees everyone. Food is very traditional breakfast buffet fare without much flare. It is about your only choice for sit down in AK (unless you want Rainforest). If it is a culinary experience you want, do the Boma breakfast.

We usually hit Donald's once a trip around 10am and have it serve as a brunch for our morning in the AK.

we have brunched (we always go for the latest seating so we can do safari and a few other hot attractions first) at donald's twice and enjoyed it both times! food was good, hot, fresh w/lots of variety... character interaction was outstanding... and our server was always attentive and entertaining! donald's gets two thumbs up from our family!

We LOVED Donald's bfast. We actually turned it in a brunch. The food was great, we did not feel rushed at all. The characters came around for pictures and autographs. My Dbil is a Donlad freak....he was in awe. Imagine a 42 year old Donald groupie.....now was not the time to mess that picture up!

We'd go again any time.

We ate there for the 1st time last week. The only other character breakfast we have done is Crystal Palace. Our PS was for 9:40 and we were seated within 5 minutes. We enjoyed our meal, but I thought the selections were much more limited than Crystal Palace. It is standard breakfast fare. The characters are why we went. We were seated in the main room next to the breakfast bar. All the characters came out and went right by our table to begin their interactions in the 1st room. Because of this we were the 4th to last table to be visited by Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Pluto....about a 45 minute wait....a very long time for an excited 2 1/2 year old.

I think the food selection at Crystal Palace is much better with the made to order omelets and breakfast lasagna, but we enjoyed it and will probably be back to see the characters.

Thanks for all the info.

I made reservations for 8:00 a.m. I might change then to 9:00 - in case the bus from Pop Century dosen't get us there in time.

Thanks.

We loved it both times and have it booked for our first breakfast on our next trip. There's my glowing feedback. :)

I will let you know ...we have 8 am seeting for next friday plan on driving over ... hope the kids enjoy!!! loved this thread since i was wondering how it was myself... we are just thrilled that we will be in the park already when it opens...at 9

OK, I'll give the other side.

We hated Donalds. First was the problem of getting into the park. The toll booth does NOT open until 1/2 hour before park opening and because this was an extra magic hour day, the booth did not open until park opening. Park opened at 8am, toll booth opened at 8am, PS for 8am, arrived at Donalds at 8:20am.

When we got there, we were treated like walk ups and waited for a long time. Then we got a grumpy server, and the buffet, well the hot food was cold and looked like it had been there for a while. The cold melon's looked like they had also been there for a while (you know that slimy look to fruit that has been sitting for a long time). The chef's were very slow in replacing the empty bins (and this was at 9 am) The food was only so so, the characters were rushed and only spent a very short time at the table and only came around once.

We will not go to Donald's again, I much prefer Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's for a character breakfast.

Ruttie:

DON"T DRIVE !!!!!!!!!!!! Take the bus. This way you will actually be on time and not stuck outside. Many others can confirm that AK parking lot does not open early (ask Tyler AKA chip n dale express)

We didn't care for it either. We got there around 10:20 for a 10:25 ps and did not get seated for another 1/2 hour (last Saturday in October). We were there over an hour and only saw two characters. There were very few people in our section but we still felt really rushed.

Having said that, our server was nice enough, the food wasn't bad, and it could have been an off day. I would be totally willing to give it another chance (but would make the adr for earlier) - talking dh and the kidlets into going back might be difficult however.

:) Michele

We only go to AK once each trip. We always make a 8:00 PS. I drove the first time and its true, the cars are not let in until close to 8 and then you can be late. Other times (including our last in feb) we took the early breakfast bus. Picked us up around 7:30 and we were inside at gates before they opened. Bus is the best way to get to early breakfast at AK.

We've also found the food fresh, servers funny and had the same interaction with the charcters as we have at other places. Mickey does look skinnier here for some reason. Best is we get to Dinoland as it opens and spend a good 30 minutes doing everything the kids want before any sort of crowds get there.

Very good mix of characters but its a bit chaotic with all the commotion and people moving around for the buffet.
I agree. Food was okay, but the place was insane. Very loud and chaotic.

My DS is the BIGGEST Donald fan so we always go there at least once each trip w/our last trip being a month ago. I have never felt that the characters were as "friendly" as some of the other meals we have attended in DW and they do seemed very rushed, but the staff does make sure every character has visited us before we leave. The food is always okay to good & we never leave hungry. There is a good selection & I enjoy their breakfast pizza and the potatoes as well. Overall, it's generally a good experience. HTH Kim

We just got back from 11 days at WDW today. We did Donald's for breakfast about halfway through our trip. I'd have to say that I've never been disappointed with ANY of our Disney dining experiences...until this one :(

The place was an absolute madhouse!! The characters were SO rushed, they wouldn't even stay long enough for me to get separate pictures of my two kids with them. They ran by, grabbed autograph books, hurried both kids into the picture, then ran off.

The food was ok...not bad, but not great either. I was more sad about feeling this way towards a Disney restaurant than the experience itself. We've done many other character meals and have never had that kind of rushed, unpleasant atmosphere.

Sadly, we won't be doing this one ever again. :sad2:

Just curious, if you have a 8am seating, when do the characters come through? Im assuming its hourly or something, as the people from 8am & 10:30 am are at asuch a difference in time....thanks :flower:

Would love to know this too, we have an 8:00 a.m. booked on Sunday.

This was our first character meal and in my opinion it just wasn't worth the price tag. The food was fine, the characters stopped by but it wasn't anything more than you'd get waiting in line in the parks. Our waitress barely talked to us and it was pretty clear when she wanted us to leave, even though some in the group would have liked more food. It wasn't horrible, maybe I was just expecting too much or maybe I'm just cheap. It seemed kinda kooky to me to be paying $80 for us to have breakfast buffet, although it was worth every penny to take the Wishes Cruise for $150. I think it's a matter of perspective for me.
