Any college admissions

experts?

All this talk about holding back from K got me to wondering..

My DD skipped a grade, so she is one year younger than most of the kids. Many kids have been redshirted, so she is two years younger than them. I often hear "I held them back and now they are at the top of the class." This bothers me.. but anyway.. not what my question is. My DD is at the top also.

For college entrance does anyone look at age? If it were between two kids who would have the advantage? The 17yr old, or the 19yr old? Do they get any "credit" for having graduated early, or would a school prefer the more mature child?

I don't think it matters to be honest. As long as you have the goods then you are good to go.

This. I had a girl in my graduating class that grew up in Lebanon where they start school earlier, so she was (at least) a full year younger than everyone else. (Edit: She started college this year, as did I) I also had a friend who was younger than me by a couple of months, yet a grade ahead of me. So I turned 18 as a senior in high school and she turned 18 three months after me as a freshman in college. I think as long as the person has that diploma the only comparing points would be grades and other activities.

Only if it would show up in the maturity with which they wrote their essays or at an interview.
