We just ended our season (July-April) And Tryouts start again next week!!! We also got our planned competitions for next year and WOW!! It is going to be an expensive year!!! :)
We do love this sport it has been a great experience for us.
Just wanted to know if other cheer parents feel that once your child gets on a competition squad that YOUR life becomes Cheering!! (practices, raising money, travel ect...)
And also is competition cheerleading becoming as popular as it is here in Florida all over???

my girls are cheerleaders at their middle school. two of their team members also cheer competitively. it sounds like a lot of fun.

next year older dd will be at the hgih school. the cheerleaders at the high school compete on a natiional level. so does the dance team. you can only be on one of the teams, not both, so dd is keeping her options open. she'll try out for both.

I have 2 daughters and the both cheer for the High School. My oldest is on Varsity and youngest is on Freshman Squad. The youngest on also does competition cheer at a gym. The will also compete with the High School at Nationals. Right now my life is cheerleading. Thank goodness my oldest drives! Plus I am so broke from paying for all of this! Here in Texas cheerleading is very popular.

Not a parent ;) but a recent cheerleader :cheer2:

I cheered for a rather small high school but we had a pretty exceptional squad and yes, we did compete. And it did become my mom's life. I still wonder how she worked so many hours and still managed to make it to my stuff?? LOL I'll have to ask her about that. Anyways, yes, we were always raising money for trips and uniforms and competitions  And then our senior year we received the opportunity to perform a routine in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade so we were raising more money for that as well....it was worth every penny and every ounce of practice---that was truly fabulous. It's kind of overwhelming actually, but I will tell you that your daughter will appreciate you all the more for it once she's done. The 7 years I cheered (Middle, High, and College) are remembered very fondly and I have great memories.

I do think cheerleading is becoming more popular and much competitive than it ever was before....but that just means more fun :teeth:
