Any CHEAP Wisconsin Dells info please???

Anyone have any BUDGET ideas/ suggestions for the Wisconsin Dells?? We are thinking of staying in a cabin or condo, maybe?

Be prepared that NOTHING is cheap at the Dells!!! Lodging, food, activities are all much more than Disney any day. Plus harder to get around.

Rates are cheaper for lodging before memorial day and after labor day.

The Dells area is pricy.

Here are some ideas to help you save money:
do a google search for discounts or coupons.
check out www.dells.com
go mid-week or early/late season as suggested already.
we actually prefer the dells in the winter, as we love the indoor waterparks and can usually get great deals.

I disagree. I own a condo at a resort in the dells and I rent prime summer weeks for less than $100/night and off-season weeks for less than $30/night. If you buy the dells coupons book you can get 2 for 1 coupons.

I agree,,we hit the Dells every year for the past 30 and nothing is cheap there anymore. IT is a lot of fun, but don't go expecting a budget trip. It is a typical tourist attraction area.

another very helpful website is www.wisdells.com, it's run by the Visitor's Bureau...would really depend on when you are going as far as what will be open, a lot of the shops and attractions are opening up this month already and will be open through usually Sept, usually shutting down at the end of Wo-Zha-Wa days..so knowing when you are interested in going as well as how many in your party would help a great deal...i'm moreless from the area and would be happy to help in anyway I can..HTH!

I've rented condos at Wyndham Glacier Canyon through a lady I met on Red week or ebay at least 30 times (we go probably 8 times a year). Very reasonable for very nice accomadations. Generally pay $80-$175 a night for 2-4 bedroom. Always go 2-3 nights over a weekend.

The Dells hotels with waterparks are usually cheaper during the week than on weekends. Check their calendars. Also, early in June is much more reasonable than later in the summer. Good luck!

Staying off site of a waterpark would probably be much cheaper. We've only stayed at the Wilderness, Kalahari, Great Wolf, and Chula Vista when we've visited. Chula Vista's golf cabins are cheaper during cold months--you have to take a shuttle to the indoor waterpark.

I disagree with those who don't think the Dells can be a budget vacation. It depends entirely on when/where you go. If you go midweek, off peak season, it can be ridiculously inexpensive. I recently went with a group of three other moms and their kids (4 moms, 5 kids). We arrived on Monday and left on a Friday. We shared a 4Br4BA absolutely stunning presidential condo at the Glacier Canyon part of the Wilderness. Each family had their own spacious bedroom and bath, plus a large shared dining room, living room, and kitchen. 5 flat screen TVs, etc. It was a VERY nice place. It included waterpark passes for the 5 days. Grand total for all of us was $495, so split 4 ways $125 bucks. Tell me that's not budget!

We cooked most of the meals we ate in our condo...each mother cooked one night out of the four for everyone. I spent nothing beyond the $125 that I wouldn't have spent anyway (we brought food from home) besides a few bucks to play laser tag, and $6 to buy sodas once at one of the waterparks. Cheapest, funnest trip ever. We felt so pampered, and yet had spent peanuts. LOL!

Good deals can be found on ebay for the timeshares. Of course, you will pay substantially more for weekends and summer, but still, not terribly high if you can share the cost with other families.

I live in Madison and Craigslist has Dells condos listed every day. Go to Madison Craigslist and click on vacation rentals. If you don't see what you want, post and I'm sure you will get some offers. We have friends who get deals for lodging in the Dells this way throughout the summer.

I just priced a room at Chula Vista (and actually booked it and then came to my senses and cancelled it) for this weekend ~ $700 for TWO NIGHTS.

And it was a regular hotel room, nothing special about it.

It is getting harder and harder to find accomations/things to do on a budget there.

We're choosing to spend our dollars elsewhere.

We've stayed at the Field's Park Motel - very basic but clean and price of room includes daily passes to Wilderness Resort. Prices in June are around $59/nite, I think (may be a bit more on weekends).
