Any chance of stroller being stolen when left?

We're leaving on 5/29 for our trip to WDW. We will be taking along my DD, 4yrs old and my DS, 11mos. Now here's my question, any chance my stroller will get stolen while we are riding rides? Of course I will take my camera bag and anything else of value with us onto the rides. I don't intend on abandoning my stroller except for a few rides, due to the fact my son is only 11mos and can't ride much. I think it will be fine, while my mom is a little more paranoid and suggested some kind of bike lock for the stroller...sounds like a hassle to me. What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!

I suppose there is always that chance, but I have never had a problem. I brought my granddaughter's new carriage and we left it everywhere. I even left packages in it very often so I wouldn't have to carry them. All strollers and wheel chairs are moved by the CMs if they are in the way of traffic, but I've never had a thing missing - not once.

in the past 4 years, we've spent over 50 days in the parks. never had a single problem.

We had no probem either, brought the Chicco caddy stroller which is totally awesome. Has a rainfly, light, airport friendly, sporty yellow, reclines, light aluminum construction, turns on a dime. Anyway, only CMs moved it. I think the problem comes up when you rent a stroller from Disney, respect declines rapidly here as its "just a rental". I read somewhere where someone tied a fake dirty diaper to their stroller...apparently it was never touched. Just an idea.

I wouldn't worry too much about the stroller being taken, but it's always a possibility. Just be aware that there seem to be stroller fairies, so sometimes your stroller will not be exactly where you left it and you may have to hunt and peck for awhile as sometimes people move them around sometimes.

I've both brought my own and rented, and never lost either. I simply put my last name on it, and it usually stayed put except for the above mentioned strolle fairies.

We have taken many trips to WDW with many different strollers and have never had a problem with the stroller being taken, or stuff left in the stroller being taken either. That's not to say it can't happen, but it's not likely.

Stroller theft has generally not been a problem at WDW. Unintentional taking of wrong stroller can sometimes be when there are ones that look the same. Make sure you put a name tag on it that can be easily seen.

I would strongly recommend that you tie something to the stroller to identify it as yours. We were at MK in early March and 30 minutes into our first day some one mistakenly took our stroller. We were fairly certain that it was a mistake because there was another sitting there that looked just like ours and it stayed there for at least 5 hours.

Wish I had better news for you, but ours was taken outside of Mickeys Philharmagic on our 2day of a 6 day trip. It was a simple umbrella stroller and had lots of green ribbon on it and our name and address. It was taken. Everyday after that we checked in with lost and found and it was never turned in.

Next time we have little ones, Im gonna paint the thing with bright orange and yellow and slap "Biohazard" stickers on it. Maybe put a "club" on it and an alarm that goes off if someone is within 2 feet of it.

11 trips to WDW over the last 8 years; have spent almost 60 days in the parks. Never had a stroller issue.

But beware of squirrel bandits! On our last day, at MGM, we saw an industirous squirrel going at some snacks in a net pocket on the back of a stroller. He was upside down, headfirst in the net pocket & digging at some snack crackers. We got some pics--it was pretty cute. :thewave:

I wouldn't put a bike lock on the stroller since the cms have to rearrange strollers frequently.

I agree with putting an identifying mark on it that is noticeable in a "sea of strollers". It is kind of like finding black luggage at baggage claim, LOL

I have never been in a position to need a stroller at WDW. I guess that will change next month with a 2 year old niece and a 2 month old nephew

I will remind my sisters to put marks on the strollers to identify them as theirs.

If you are renting a stroller at WDW make sure you hang onto your receipt. If for some reason your stroller comes up missing you can always get a replacement for no extra fee.
Doesn't help much if you leave stuff in the stroller though...

A few weeks ago, I decided to take our expensive stroller, instead of the smaller one we usually take. We had no problems at all. There are hundreds of strollers there, so I wouldn't worry about it.

However, I do tie metallic ribbon around the entire stroller, and have a personalized 'license tag' (bicycle) hanging from the kids snack tray. It sticks out like a sore thumb, and I don't think anyone would think twice about trying to take it.

We also carried our backpack on all rides, which had our cash, keys, and camera in it. The huge diaper bag stayed in the stroller at all times.

Never have we had a problem with our strollers. Never once.

Over the years we have taken cheap ones and really expensive ones too. We have also had the pleasure of using the comp. strollers that you may use when you are a CL guest, and a few times we have rented at the parks. We have even gotten lazy over the years and left our gear in the stroller while attending shows and such.

While you are inside an attraction, oftentimes the castmembers will re-arrange the "stroller parking lot". Kind of straighten things up. Most people park them neatly, but there are some people that come along and just drop it where they stand. When you exit the attraction your stroller may not be in the exact spot where you left it, but that does NOT mean that someone has been "messing with it".

Putting some sort of visual identification on it ( ribbons, scarf, whatever) makes it easier to spot when you come back to get it. After a big show it is like a virtual sea of strollers, and everyone is trying to get out of the "lot" at once.

I'm so glad to see this thread. We're headed to WDW with friends in November, they have a 3 year old. She was wondering about bringing her own stroller. I'll certainly share the wisdom gained here from the pros on the situation.

we have always brought our pricey peg perego strollers and never had one taken

we did, however, catch a squirrel eating DS's popcorn when we came off alladin's flying carpets

He had left it on the seat of the stroller

I was just glad we SAW the squirrel and that DS didn't eat squirrel slobbered popcorn by mistake!

We never leave "open" food in the stroller anymore <g>
