From what I've seen, Dollar is by far the cheapest (using the KISS2 code), but I was wondering if you (experts :) ) know if there's anything even less expensive?

I'm looking specifically for a family member who needs to save every penny possible for her upcoming December trip. Through Dollar, I reserved a mini-van for $251 (that includes all the extra charges) for a week. I think that's a pretty good rate, but if there's something out there that's better, I am hoping you'll share.

THANKS!

For my Sept trip I started with Dollar but then Alamo became cheaper with the codes available from Bj's wholesale club

Be aware that with Dollar, you will most likely get the short wheelbase minivan (standard Caravan) unless you pay extra for the long wheelbase version (Grand Caravan). That's probably a 4 suitcase capacity difference. With my group of 6, that's significant.

At least that's been my previous experience with Dollar.

I'd second Dave's suggestion on checking on Alamo's rates using a BJ's discount code. I was able to get a week long rental in early June for $140 including tax (whcih winds up being almost a third of the cost) using a 'free day' promotion. They also have a line saving membership program which you can sign up for online (especially useful when picking up your rental car at the airport).

Buena Suerte!

Thrifty is the cheapest for our trip in August for an economy car, but rates tend to fluctuate quite a bit as your rental time approaches. I used the Magicard code for the Thrifty rental.

I currently have 2 reservations:

Dollar: Compact car for 8 days $162 taxes in :cool1:
Alamo: Mid-Size SUV for 8 days $178 taxes in

I think we will be going with Alamo because they have the 2nd driver included in the price, where Dollar it's significantly more to have a 2nd driver ($9/day?).

Although the additional gas costs of the SUV may even things out.

I got the prices above using the codes provided by mousesavers.com
