We leave for Disney on Sept 17. I am already concerned about the massive amounts of hurricanes going on down there.:scared: I do realize that Disney has only closed afew times for hurricanes but I am concerned as we are from Niagara Falls Ontario and have never dealt with a hurricane before. Am I freaking out for nothing or should I be concerned? :confused3 Anyone else watching the storms 24/7?:surfweb:

No, I wouldn't be concerned. I am leaving on Sept 14 for week at Disney. This is my 4th September trip and I have yet to experience any bad weather, hardly any rain. I think Walt purposely built the park in the middle of Florida so it wouldn't be so vunerable to the weather. Go and enjoy and have fun. At least if it rains it will keep the rain down.

:woohoo:

sorry, meant if it rains it will keep the crowds down!!! :rotfl:

I am not worried about he rain or storm once I get there but I don't want my flight to be cancelled. I have been waiting far too long to have my vacation cut short by a delay or cancelation.

Um..... well given that there is a category 3 Hurricane predicted to hit Miami on Wednesday I am concerned. (We leave Friday).
Anything can happen between then and now to divert it but I'm going to be watching closely to see if we need to change our travel plans.
I don't care about rain once we are there.. but our flights being cancelled worries me.

I'm pretty worried. We are set to drive down leaving Thursday evening and arriving on Friday evening. Right now I'm cautiously optimistic that Ike will be out of our way by then but you really never know.

Our biggest concern is having to drive through the weather. I know we'd be okay once we got to Disney but I do not want to try to drive though the remenants of a hurricane :sad2:

And We leave Wednesday morning......:scared: :scared1:
Well it is still Friday so I'm really REALLY hoping that Ike changes direction and loses some power. I'll wait until Monday before I really get worried. (like I'm not worried now..... )

We're leaving on the 17th, too, and I am not worried. Josephine looks weak and off course from Orlando. However, I am prepared to deal with the after effects of Ike. Hurricanes are big deals to the folks that live there and visit...so I am prepared to be patient and compassionate if things aren't running 100% smoothly.

I am still super excited for my first WDW vacay!

Well we were a little concerned lastnight and this morning but all has been cleared up for us..... we rebooked out flight to leave Sept.8th opposed to Sept.10 and booked 2 nights at All-Star Music..... then on Wed. we are off to our vacation at Wilderness Lodge.... aslong as I'm there the Mouse aint going to toss me out.....

I too have been watching the hurricanes :rotfl2: (sounds like I can 'see' them) I am a little concerned, even though I probably don't need to be. We arrive on the 19th. I hope that Ike goes away :rolleyes1 for those going soon....

Did it cost a lot to reschedule your flight? Who are you flying with?

We leave on the 7th, so we might be ok to get there, but might have to be indoors on the Wednesday. Let's just hope for the best for all of us to have a great vacation.

At least IKE is redirecting and powering down so far....crossing fingers and toes....

I was booked with Southwest and had a great price when i booked in June at 89.00 per person but with changing the frlight at last minute I sucked it up and paid extra 336.00 to book for Monday :scared1: that is for DW and myself.... oh well that and 2 extra days in AMSU total 484.00 ...but atleast I'm there and he can't throw me out:rotfl2:

we are leaving on the 16th the only thing i am hoping is the flight is on and when you are at disney if a strom hits it is the safest place in florida to be people who live there will stay at the resorts when a big strom is coming.

Back a few years ago, I would say I wouldn't worry .... but after hurricane juan, with no power for almost a week, plus the damage to properties, I must say I am educated.

I know have a healthy respect for Hurricanes. 45 and still learning ...

And We leave Wednesday morning......:scared: :scared1:

We are also scheduled to fly out Wed and I'm not good with flying in the best of conditions so I'm starting to panic and seriously consider cancelling. This is our first time going anywhere without our kids in 8 years and only have 3 days so if our flight gets delayed a day it won't be worth going. I'm with you...will wait until Monday and hope for the best.

We are flying out the 16th and with I am watching the weather!!!
Fingers and toes crossed!

Just got back from Disney on Tuesday.

We flew down on Aug 20th by Southwest from Manchester NH.
They had cancelled a couple of flights on the 19th because of Faye.
It was nothing but rain for a couple of days but we didn't have park tickets til the 24th with free dining. 30 minutes north got 30 inches of rain. Orlando handled its 6 or 8 inches of rain well. The rest of the time was just occasional thunderstorms. Flew out on Sept 1st before anything more came.

Both Southwest and Disney seem to know how to handle the weather well.

We were there during TS Faye and we had a message on our phone from CM updating us with the latest news and to watch the in room channels specific to the resort for more information. They had a ticker constantly going about the park hours and to contact the airport for flight information. We flew WEstJet out on the 23rd and when I called to confirm the flight and ask about delays since Faye seemed to stall over Florida for days, she said there were no delays. Crossing my fingers and toes for all of you and here's a little something else to help pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:
