Any Canadians send a box to resort?

Have any fellow Canadians sent a box of stuff to their resort successfully? I've been doing up my packing list and realize that a lot of little things are going to add up to another suitcase! I'm a little parinoid about sending it and it getting held up at the border or taking too long to get there. I'd send it express of course to shorten the time (I've had stuff sent to Ohio take up to a month regular mail!)

Any suggestions? I am doing a Walmart run when we get there but I wanted to get as much "dollar store" stuff as I can ahead of time.

Thanks!

And yes I realize that doing my packing list more then six months from my trip is perhaps, shall we say, a little exsesive but HEY I'm vacation obsessed!!:thumbsup2

How many people are going on your trip? Are you flying or driving?

There are four of us (Dh, DD10 and DD6). We're driving from NS to Bangor and flying from there. It wouldn't be a huge box but would definitly take up space in suitcases...mind you that is space that would end up being occupied by souveniers on the return trip :)

Last year when I went for my 10 day trip I sent multiple boxes to OKW. They held the boxes for me until my arrival and when I checked in was able to get them. I did call in advance to check if I could do this and they advised that this was fine as long as the boxes showed up less than 1 week in advance and the boxes had my ressie # on them.

I purchased most of my souvenirs at Disneyshopping.com and saved a fortune over park prices, things such as Disney towels, bathing suits, shirts, and thingies, as well as purchased several things from E-bay such as pins and stuff. The benefit of doing things this way is there were no taxes involved, shipping was cheaper, and no duties to pay as purchases fell under my personal limits on my return trip back to Canada.

What is your baggage allowance? Most airlines are still 2/pp checked and 1 carryon. Seems to me you could save the shipping cost unless you really need 12 bags on your trip.

Calgarygary...thanks for making me check the baggage allowance....I was thinking it was only one per person and I knew we had to take Dd's booster seat. After digging into it, it is actually 2 per person and her booster seat isn't included in that. So I'm safe to pack an extra bag with all my park extras and then I can use it for souveniers on the way home.:dance3:

Like the other poster, we had stuff sent to us there from US retailers. A connection at the resort said we could send it a couple of weeks ahead, but that was a hassle...they couldn't find it and we had to prove to them that they had taken delivery of it. We also had two others delivered with shorter lead times and it worked fine. "Clearance" on Disneyshopping.com was a great savings.

Haven't tried to get anything across the border that way. If your trip is long enough/the stuff you can wait for, you could mail it once you cross into Maine. I've found the USPS is significantly cheaper and faster than Canada Post.

HTH.

If you are a frequent visitor to Orlando, you might want to consider this new service, http:/www.ownerslocker.com

It's a service that allows you to store your vacation stuff in Orlando between visits We used them in January and, so far, it works well.

How far in advance did you order the items from Disneyshopping? I would like to do this but have not a clue how far in advance to order? Thanks KAthy

I ordered about two weeks before my arrival. I figured it would take 2 to 3 days to get the order sent from Disneyshopping and it would take 3-4 days for the package to arrive. It worked out exactly like that. The package showed up 6 days before my arrival and the resort stored the boxes in there storage room. When I checked in I was able to retreive them. :hippie:

Thanks that's really great to know. I love their stuff but shipping and duty about kill you.
