DH leaves Sat. early a.m. for Newfoundland, and today found out he can only fly 70lbs of meat back to the US with him on the airplane (over that it's terribly expensive). What shipping company/method do you use to get something (in this case, moose meat) from Canada to the US (like our Fed Ex or UPS)? Thanks for the help, neighbor!

Hi I don't know anything about shipping meat to the U.S. but we do have Fed Ex and UPS up here.

Well I'm Canadian, but I can honestly say that I've never had that exact problem (trying to ship meat to the US! :p). I don't know if there's any border regulations with shipping meat or not, I'm guessing you've probably checked that out already though. And as Tigercat said, our companies are greatly the same as yours down there... Fed Ex, UPS and the like, and I'm sure there's even more that I can't think of off the top of my head. Those are 2 of the biggies though. Take care! :)

I am not from Canada, but I assume he is going for a hunt?

I would check with the guide, lodge or outfitter he is using. I am sure they can make some very good recommendations on packaging and shipping his game.

Can't say I've ever shipped meat, but you may want to check out rates via Fedex.com or UPS.com as these are both standard shipping companies here in Canada. Purolator may also be an option. It can get really expensive depending on the weight and your shipping location. I'm sure you already know this but he will have to declare that he is bringing back meat/produce with him and this may require an inspection.

He is going to call the outfitter today, but will probably bite the bullet and use the airline. I found the Canada UPS/FedEx sites, thank you. I've been married to him too long to ask him why we *need* more than 70 lbs of moose meat! (He puts up with me being a WDW fanatic, I put up with having lots of dead critters staring at me from the walls...) I wish I could get off of school to go with him, because I would dearly love to see Newfoundland, though. Thanks again!
