Just curious...

I spend a lot of time on the camping boards, but don't recognize anyone there from this board. Just wondering if there are any other Forters on here. Would always be great to have drinks if so!

Woohoo! There's something about it that really is relaxing to me.

I was at POR with a friend about a month ago... It's just so hectic there, long walks to the bus, etc. I'm ready for the Fort.... though not sure my idea of tent camping is going to go so well.

I grew up camping, and still go cabin camping each year, but something about the lack of airconditioning would get me:lmao:

I worked at the Fort for 3 years, and grew up camping. I love at the Fort so much!

As a matter of fact, I just put up my tent in my living room the other day so I could make sure it was still in good shape :rotfl:

Haha. I did that ONCE... and only once. I think I'm still cleaning the sand up from that experience. It sucks living in a townhouse for reasons like the lack of outdoor space.

The Fort is a GREAT place. Definitely looking forward to the November trip!

Heh, having grown up camping, I always made sure my tent was swept clean before I packed it away :thumbsup2

I need to buy some waterproofing spray. With the weather finally getting nice down here i may have to visit one of the state parks or something (unless I can afford a night or 2 at FW).

Well... it was raining the last time I camped, so ya know... that didn't work out so well. No matter what i do, that FtW sand sticks to everything.

There are some great deals at the Fort right now you might want to check out. I think I got a partial for around $35/night. State parks aren't toooooo much less expensive.

We almost went to the Fort during our first WDW trip (2 nights, one day...we thought we could do it all :rotfl:), but, it was August and we would have been in a tent. We stayed off-site instead.

We've talked about it since -- we'd still be tent people -- but, since we purchased DVC it's unlikely unless some of the rumours come true.

I also grew up camping, tent and cabin. As a kid we did one vacation in Orlando where we tented for a few days at a local KOA in Kissimmee. It was around Thanksgiving time and it was so cold, we ended up sleeping in the car.
The SO is not a tenter, he likes air condtioning, electricity, and a bed, though he does want a Class A Travel Camper. If that ever happens, we may spend a few days camping at the Fort. But we still have our DVC and will do that for a long time.

I grew up camping but haven't been in years. We're not tent campers though. We prefer a camper. We started with a pop-up camper. It was nice b/c although it was a pop-up it had hard sides. But it was a bit small. We then moved up to a pull-behind. This one was nice b/c it was like a hi-lo. The top lowered down over the bottom half. We still have it but I have no idea what shape it's in as it's been sitting at a storage unit for several years. I wouldn't mind dusting her off and going camping for a weekend.

Aww! Sleeping in the car?!? That stinks.

My last camping trip it rained... and rained... and rained... and rained... and then there were tornadoes. It happens, but if the weather isn't crap, it can be a fantastic time. Very relaxing.

Another two who grew up camping, she in a camper, me in a tent.

Needless to say, I consider it camping when I'm staying in a resort that doesn't have a gym. :teeth:

Yep, I'm done with camping! Last few times we went it rained so much our tent and sleeping bags took ages to dry out. Then there was that mini tornadic event at Barcadia on the coast of Maine... yeah, that was fun.

So, nope! Like Ft. Wilderness and might even be convinced to stay there in one of the cabins but no more tents for me/us and definitely NOT IN FLORIDA! :scared:

Tent camping isn't for us, either. We like our air-conditioning and microwave! :goodvibes Our biggest reason for getting our camper was initially our cats. We love being able to travel with them. And they're not typical cats -- they love traveling too! Our very first trip in the camper was to the Fort!

Now, we've started getting spoiled. It's kind of nice taking our own little playhouse with us on vacation. No gross bedspread. :confused3 Not that I'm giving up on the BWV.

But the Fort..... ahhh. I grew up going there, and it's so beautiful and peaceful. :cloud9: A little slice of heaven. It's truly a different experience than staying at any other WDW resort. I think you have to experience it to know what I'm talking about.

We'll be there in a little less than a month! :yay:

My DH loves to tent camp. I do not. I did stay at the FW mobile home type cabins way back in 1983 and 1985 with my "inner city under priviliged" scout troop. That was awesome. Loved loved loved taking the little boats to the Magic Kingdom.

We also love to camp in our TT. Our typical vacations are in the trailer with the dogs.

We will be at Fort Wilderness at the beginning of December and would like to meet up with others

Looks like I'll just miss you! I'll be at the Fort November 14-20 as it currently stands. Maybe I'll have the itch to go back. hmmmm

I think you should come back in December to enjoy all the holiday events that are going on :)

Bruce and I camped once at the Fort. We would go again in a minute if Bruce was healthy enough to do it. Walkers and campgrounds are not a good mix.
